Had a strange experience in mine today: I was just changing down at the bottom of Church Street in Malvern when the clutch pedal went to the floor. Nothing. I rapidly turned off and mentally sorted out a route home which didn't involve any right turns. Half an hour later I got home without having crunched the gears once. The rod had slipped the release lever.

Sounds a bit scary-but I suppose not as bad as the brake pedal going to the floor at the bottom of Church Street!

I still have memories as an 11 year old of taking the turn from Church Street into Avenue Road rather too fast on my pedal bike, and breaking a collar bone in the collision with a stone wall. Then had to walk home with a rather mangled bike.

A sign of an old hand at the wheel , Can't see the young ones doing that today . The sat nav has no clutch cock up on it's system.

Has anyone converted from the rod clutch arrangement to a cable? It would make the clutch so much easier to adjust.
