No I haven't and nor I am sure it's easy to get to. However since she start's ok when the + of the battery is connected to the + point front of the block (you might need to see an Aero 8 S1 to understand what I mean) then that leaves me pretty convinced that the problem is on the positive supply side to the starter.

Cheers

That would be the logical assumption Philip.
Good luck with resolving the problem.

Philippo,

How have you an update on the starter problem. I am interested as I am running a new battery now for 6 months and so far no clicking. You suggested that the problem may be on the positive supply side, always useful to know what you discovered.

Phillipo

Also seeking an update if possible as I am now experiencing the click 1 in every 3 attempts to start her, hot or cold.

Thanks

Andrew,
Had the same problem over many years with my S1, problem now fixed by Brian Miller, new uprated starter/solenoid. Excellent job.

Hello and apologies for not posting on this subject for a while; in the process of a house move and reconstruction project!

Since early June the car has been starting fine, so haven't been able to confirm my theory about issue on positive supply side. It's also been a lot hotter here in Toulouse....coincidence or what that starter working fine?

Cheers

Hi

My S1 failed - this is a common issue and I was told that the replacement is a modified Bosch variant that wont suffer the same issues.Strangely mine also worked OK when I was in the hot south of france but in the UK would not start one in ten .

good luck

Gajet
