has anyone had corrosion where the little light sits on top of aluminium wing? If so how did you treat it?

Sorry no. I would guess it is galvanic and driven by aluminum touvhing steel. In that case you need to insulate the 2 metals

Doesn't the light come with a rubber base and the nut with a similar "washer"?

Mine does & touch wood no corrosion. My wings are ali but pre superform

One of the guys at Lifes told me that is quite a common problem with older cars with aluminium wings due to galvanic corrosion, as John said. Its a regular repair on some cars apparently while they are being prepared for sale. Even with insulation the threaded part of the light fitting can come into contact with the wing.

I also had corrosion on the cowl on my '09 +4 where the Mog badge was fitted. Shame as Fords used to fit their trim using little plastic cups 50 odd years ago to prevent this!
