while i love the bell&ross/aviation theme of my 3 wheeler's dash, there's part of me that yearns for a more vintage/classic vibe. been looking at lots of morgan's dashes online and was wondering if anyone knew the possibility of replacing the gauges with other ones and redesigning the layout of the dash.

wasn't sure about the wiring harness of the s&s engine vs how the other morgan's are setup and what would be involved as this is something i've never tinkered with.

i've reached out to MK as he does insane dash/interior work on morgan's but unfortunately he said they haven't done any work on 3 wheelers and didn't have one on hand to play with.

would love everyone's input on feasibility. below are some random pics i've found online of gauges of interest. enjoy

I designed my own it took a long while as I kept changing my mind ( well I have to live with it ) then some ideas could not be made. After a lot of brain testing I came up with what I liked . I include the s/wheel and the boss .Sent it to M.K drove the poor chap mad but told him I am an awkward b*gger please me and you can please anyone think of the high you will have if you achieve that HE DID. The mogs away when its complete I will pop some photos on .

I'll try to track down more info on it as I found it on Flickr and don't remember the origin.

Will get back to everyone

The clock is interesting in the 3rd and 4th pictures. I've got one lurking, it's supposedly as fitted to some MIG fighters but boy is it a heavy thing. And not a very easy shape to cut a hole for either since although it is sort of circular, there are two smaller arcs of circles with a non obvious centre.

I've seen them sold for over £100, but I got mine a lot cheaper from eBay, even if it was a slightly worrying wait for the post as it came from the Ukraine!

Blake, we should contact Pete Larsen in Seattle and see if he would make us an engine turned dash like the one on the original Ace...I'd be willing to share the development costs with you if you're interested...

I couldn't agree more that the M3W is screaming for an engine turned dash with vintage Smith's gauges. We also need to replace the plastic steering column.

I bet that whoever gets to market first on these could build a nice side business. I think Pete is particularly well suited to provide a solution, the only question is whether his contract with Morgan will allow him to develop the aftermarket.

PM me if you're interested....

Aeroman (Brian) has a turned dash, quite nice looking. Had to dig all the way to page 13 in the 3 wheeler section to find this thread with these photos.

and I believe that Melvyn Rutter has had a leather cover made for the steering column. Im still searching for the image that I remember seeing, but I will update this whenever I find it.

I ordered the map pockets over the phone and they arrived about 6 weeks later, supplied with simple fitting instructions. My car's got black leather and the match was good.

They solve the problem of where to put the mobile and the other little bits that we all need to carry in the car, and look nice too. They obviously create more room in the cockpit but don't interfere with my legs and getting in / out. They were £160 incl vat for the two, which I thought was fair.

I also found a largeish leather wallet that could sit on the transmission tunnel but that's been abandoned now that I've got the 'saddle bags'.

I made a simple shelf out of plastic facia, then covered in black car carpet, which spans the full width of the cockpit, above the trans. tunnel, plenty of room for all those little things we all need at hand when driving, and, for me at least didn't hinder access or egress [is that the right word?]
