Now that is good news! What size was the trailer fender? Will order tonight as I am listening to some wicked thunder and lightning storms breeze through here!

It was I think 8 1/2 inches wide and for a 15" wheel, a round profile as some have flat tops, I can't find the paperwork but am pretty sure that's right. Be good to test it in a serious storm !

Have just measured it ,it is 8 1/2 inches wide. Going back to the seat belt problem ,I have screwed a rubber flap to the wood at the top which hangs down covering that whole area, the new fender will obviously help too.

Most excellent. I have rethought the fender idea and am seriously considering getting a steel fender and mounting it to the trunk deck from the bottom. That gets it as high as it needs to be and when removing the deck to get to the rear wheel, brake, belt, whatever, it is automatically removed for access, which is the reason the rear deck came off in the first place!

As for covering the seat belt alleyway, I have since found that it has greatly reduced the bevel box whine since it was a straight shot to the ears from there. An added bonus. The interior is much cleaner already after a nice morning run.

Pleased to hear seatbelt problem is sorted . I'll be interested to hear how you get on with new fender plan, I wonder if it'll be possible to get it close enough to the wheel to stop muck flying everywhere ? There is still good access to everything with the other system. Btw don't forget the wheel isn't in the centre but is offset, I forgot this when trimming mine!

I was the Trailer mudguard/fender "inventor" - it also keeps the seat belts clean/dry and stops debris flying up through the leather hinge - so well worth doing - and an easy mod IMHO

Thanks seat backs removed can now seal all the gaps. Some slightly more detailed instruction which may help others.

1) Remove both seat squabs by lifting front edge and pull forwards to release from under lower edge of lower back rest.
2) Remove plastic boot liner, 8 socket head button screws.
3) Remove 4 M6 hexagon head screws through rear bulkhead holding upper back rest in place.
4) Push seat belt receptors down out of the way.
5) Pull lower edge of lower backrest forwards over seat belt receptors, continue pulling forwards and push down on upper edge of lower back rest. This releases two aluminium tabs which slide down from behind the upper backrest as the lower backrest is pulled out.
6) Push upper backrest down to clear bodywork and remove.

It took me about 10 minutes to do this the first time.
