Can anyone advise on fitting a sport exhaust to a 2001 4/4 1800cc I'm interested in increasing the performance of the 1800 engine but want to be aware of any hidden problems I might create by doing it. I wont fit it myself so advice on who to use would be appreciated.

I have a Librands system on my Kent engined '76 Morgan - very impressive.

I have Librands on my +4 & am impressedby it.
I also had it on my Zetec 4/4

Ditto Librands S/S system on 2005 blacktop Zetec 4/4. Very good improvement, +15bhp on dyno and much more driveable. However it is also much louder!

Librands systems are actually made by Piper exhausts.

As to who to fit it, I would have thought most Morgan dealers or specialists with any motorsport interest would be up to it. It depends where you are. Mine was fitted by John MacDonald's (now Beamish). I think you are wise to have it done for you, as there can be problems with manifold studs. If you ask Rob Wells at Librands he will probably know who in your area would fit it for you.

I fitted the Librands manifold to my 1800 Zetec a few years ago. Fitting was quite straightforward, but be aware you will need a deep socket to fit the nuts, as the studs protruding from the head are quite long. Also, I found I needed to wedge the pipe, where it passes through the chassis,to stop it contacting, before fully tightening everything. I guess you could use the old manifold gasket, as it's steel, but that's rather like the 'ha'porth of tar'. Gerry.

If you are only fitting the sports silencer plus tail pipe, it's a relatively simple job ( providing you get it the right way round )
If it's the "full monty" then I guess you are wise to let an agent do it, flakes of rust in the eye are never nice!!!

It is quite straightforward. Use penetrating oil on the manifold nuts first. Always use new gaskets too. Rob supplies these.

The only "tricky" bit for me was installing the new hangers for the exhaust as I needed to bolt them from the inside. Had to removed the trim under the door, but it was only stapled.

Thanks to yourself and everyone else for the good advice. I' ll probably go with the Librands system complete with manifold and have it fitted by an agent. My concern was if it would affect the tuning of the car and need setting up on rolling road etc.

I have a full Librands system fitted on my 1999 4/4 1.8 Zetec.
Works well and gives an increase on power and torgue over a standard exhaust. Down side it is louder.
I am in Wiltshire if any good, happy for you to try.
