Thanks John, lovely offer. Now I understand how it is assembled I can dismantle with confidence. I have a socket and hub puller at home but you can't pack everything. All part of the fun!

But my stork is the nice pterodactyl radiator mascot!

Sure Richard meant stalk but my sense of humour doesn't see it that way!

I had the dip function fail on mine. Having ordered a new unit and stripped the old one off in readiness I found it simple to bend the offending contact to get it working again. That was a few years and still going. I have the new one as a spare.

All fixed, many thanks for your advice and support. In the end it is quite easy to remove, 2 screws from right to left hold the wiper stalk and then 2 screws from left to right hold the light/indicator stalk to a semi-circular clamping plate. Simples!
After cleaning the contacts to no avail I discovered it was the female insert in the connector block that had worked its way out and lost contact with the male pin. Probably been like that since the car was built but just worked its way loose.
I think I have earned a cold beer in the sun!
Chris
