I have an urge to buy a Plus 4 super sport.!!! joyto replace my plus 4..but see that there are about 6 for sale at the moment, that's 10% of the production run..is there a problem with the car?
Any one with experience of the car ,your in put would be appreciated.
How dose it compare with a roadster for the same or less money?
Not sure which way to go. waiting

One 0f the two that RPM has was bought and then never left the showroom. Then traded in for something even better (If there is such a thing). Some people have the money to indulge themselves and its nothing to do with the car. Buying that would be like getting a new one and its the easy on the primrose yellow.
You know you want one really.

Became a little longer, but if it is a help for a decision...

I drive my RAF blue P4SS without any issue which could be associated with the car´s technical design or engine wise. Meanwhile it shows 17.000 km on the clock.
A new programmed Omex ECU was delivered via the Morgan dealers in early 2012, an exchange for the first item on all cars. It makes a difference and one should check if swapped.

In my case the only issue were the wheels. Way too heavy (20kg + including tyres means they are heavier than 7x16 stainless steel Morgan spokes) and wheels not matching the right dimensions needed regarding the inner rim diameter (too small diameter and therefore touching the suspension in curves when compressed). There was another thread with pictures.

MMC found a solution with stiffer springs. The stiffer front springs than standard in the P4SS let the car roll much less in curves. She gets significantly higher cornering speed and a safer feel. But currently it is a 80% solution as the main springs and the rebounds are under pressure which at least means that the steering feels not longer light and easy and it does not come back to center as quick as before.

To sum all that up I am looking for different wheels and the Turrinos (just recommended by Soleng in the other thread) could be the ones (I have to check costs). After 10 months of dealing with the Minilite issue and having got currently a lets say 80% solution - and concerning the weight of the Minilights I will pay for e.g. Turrinos because I like to keep this car for long time.
Glad to find other matching wheels at all as e.g. the Morgan Roadster 6,5x15 spokes (2,5 Kg lighter than the Minilites) do not fit and hide in the wings. The wings are wider than Roadster wings (I have measured) and she looks cool this way underlined by the 9 stud weather.

When you decide for a P4SS you get a very sporty car with loads of torque (for a 4pot engine) with a seamless powerband far up. Under normal conditions I rev between 2.800 and 5.800. More is possible but not always necessary. She feels subjectively faster, more drive willing and better balanced as a Roadster (can only speak for 3.0). Just an example that you don´t get a weak car: When driving alone it was satisfying to escape a C-Class AMG, especially on light gradients heavy 400+HP cars with 1,7 tons of weight have no chance.

Roadster can be the nicer cruiser but cruising a P4SS is also enjoyable. A nice effect, the vibrations are of different quality than 6pot vibrations, I like the 4 pot vibs more.

The car "can be" very loud, but it is a nice sound, a balanced composition of TB intake and exhaust. 4pot exhaust sound only does not thrill me.
When I have to drive in areas where the SPL could be to high (e.g. Switzerland) I add Pipercross socks on the TBs underneath the PX600 (loosing some power).

A word regarding the transmission. I feel very happy with the long (normal) transmission (again because of the seamless powerband). You get a very long and usefull first gear, the second goes over 120km, the third over 160 km. For road use this transmission is very good.

The whole car is very very good for road use. I would go again for her even with the explained wheel issues.

Thanks for your input Heinz. Will make sure ECU up grade has been done. Not so sure about the wheel /front suspension problem though that sounds complicated.

Peter,

not the car or the front suspension is complicated, just the choice of wheels. I will report when I have other wheels.

As one very old lady said to me the other day when I was parking the Morgan, " you only pass this way once, so enjoy it while you get the chance".
Not much I could say to that.
