Good afternoon to you

As a "new boy" on the Talk Morgan Patch, I have been trawling through the Librand Exhaust notes/memos/questions. I have the same Morgan Spec as you.

My current Mild Steel exhaust is becoming "tired" and, in the next few months, I will need a new one and am seriously thinking about fitting the Librand SS System including the exhaust manifold but using my current Cat.

I have obtained BHP and Torque info from Librands (with improvements of between 7% and 10% over the range 2000 to 3500 RPM) but would like to know whether you have noticed any fuel consumption improvements, or has it become "lost" in the better performance - I currently get 37 mpg.

Have you also fitted an improved Air Inlet Filter system and if so what improvements have you noted.

With Very Kind Regards

Vladek - with my 2005 4/4 I did get about a 10% increase in performance on the dyno, and very noticeable improvement while driving. I didn't find any real improvement in economy - but was already getting about 40mpg and I haven't really been trying to drive it economically! I had already fitted a K&N panel air filter in the original air filter box, before the exhaust system was fitted, and that also had a small but definite effect on performance. It is difficult to find an aftermarket air inlet system that will fit in the Morgan, and it is important to ensure it draws in cold air.

I don't know if you can use your existing cat, it may depend on the engine/model. On mine the cat was part of the original highly restricted manifold so it was all replaced.

Thank you for such a quick response and your info re perfomance and Air Filters etc.

I will have to give both a go with the air filter first methinks.

Chas at Mogsport is very helpful with things like free flow air filters. I used him when I wanted an ITG one for my Sigma engined 4/4.

I agree you notice the change in the car from a Librands exhaust. I certainly did....

Have a look at the air box mod that I made to my car and fitted a K&N filter and appears to work very well with the 4/2/1 manifold and sport CAT and not expensive winky Le Mans62 Website - Tips (Air Filter Modification)
