Hi everybody, I'm Colin from near Chester.
I don't have a Morgan but I've always pined after one. Last year I did the factory tour and later hired a Morgan for the day. It was supposed to be he Roadster but when I arrived they had stopped the 3.0 and there was some insurance problem with the new 3.7 on the hire fleet so they gave me a Plus 4 and a full tank of fuel to make up ..... and I managed to empty the tank before bringing it back.
I must say I was pretty done in at the end of the day because as most on here will know that driving it takes a lot more effort than a modern car ( my daily drive is an MX5 coupe)!
I often look at what is for sale and it's a little confusing when, for instance, 20 year old 4/4's are only a few thousand less than a modern 1.6 sigma. Most of the older ones look better though, the later ones all seem to be bumper-less and look a little dull on black wires. There is a very nice '96 4/4 1.8 Zetec locally for £21500, and a 2012 4/4 in the same showroom for £27000 .... so want should one do?
There are also 3 new Roadsters and 3 new 3 wheelers in the same showroom which makes me wonder how the residuals are going to hold up?
Anyway, enough for a first post, time to read through some more topics on here

Welcome Colin! Motorbikes as well by any chance? 1200GS me. I run a 2010 4/4 Sport which is great. You can add bits like overriders to fill up the space at the front. That said, the 1.8 Zetec engined 4/4's are rather nice and a decent engine.

Welcome Colin! Morgans , after initial depreciation hold their value better than MX5's or most other cars for that matter! I recommend you join the MSCC local centre (Devamog) where you will get all the advice you seek, next meeting week Thursday 4 July either Rossett or Farndon tbc. See you there!

Yes 1200GS me too Jay! I guess Mogs & MX5 are a nod to advancing years when I may not be able to continue on the bikes.
Thanks for the info on Devamog Taff, didn't realise there was a meeting so close by, I'll try to make the next one.

Welcome to the forum for old men with time to ramble. Mostly we still have our marbles ( though not sure if they all belong to their rightful owners). If you are thinking of owning a Morgan you are in the right area for conversation. Ask all the questions you want here, as somebody will have an answer.
