My exhaust has a leak when cold at the coupling between the manifold & the cat.
It stops when hot. I have bought the traditional Holts gum gum.
I am guess that will fix it tomorrow but do I need to be carefull of anything around the cat?

It is not recommended to use any exhaust gasket cement before the cat unless it is specifically stated to be catalyser safe. The wrong kind of cement can destroy the cat. If the flange is not damaged or warped you are probably better off just fitting a new gasket.

Latest update is that the weld behind the flange on the cat has failed. I guess it is 16 years old.
Has anyone got any advice on a road legal sports cat or even where to get a cat & the spec? It is a long cat

John....have a word with Longlife Exhausts. They make up bespoke cats. I'm using them at the moment for a custom silencer and my local branch are very use to Morgans so you may find the same closer to you.

I got it welded up. Mr Rutter want the wrong side of £600 for a unit.
Jay I will follow up with longlife as I expect it fail again

I got a complete (from the catalyst and backwards) stainless steel exhaust for a Citroen custom made in Sweden (Raka Ror) for a lot less. They made it while I waited using the old system as a pattern.

John, i had the same problem with a broken flange on the cat, and had the same reaction to the price. Like you, I had it re-welded and its fine so far (18 Months).
For future reference, i have since found the short cat available on ebay, around £134, (no idea how good they are) so if you are stuck, might be an idea to buy an extension and fit the short cat? These are used on the +8 I believe. (I also bought at the time a De-cat pipe so i could use the car if ever i had trouble finding a cat under £600)

I have a 2004 +4, when I tighten up the coupling between the cat and the manifold, I get a vibration through the steering at 70 mph. The same reverberation occurs when the clutch is full depressed.
If I slack off the coupling - no problem.
I notice that one of the Sports exhaust suppliers to Morgan aftermarket has developed a flexible coupling to eliminate the vibe - does anyone have experience of it?
