A friend of mine is interested in the 2001 Full Race Aero which is currently for sale at Brands Hatch (who seems reputed to be very correct...).
His main concern is to know if he will be able to drive it easily on the road.
I thought saw the car here some years ago...
Does a member know the car ? what is his opinion ?

I cannot recall this car being for sale in recent years. Unless it is the same silver Aero racer sold by Russell Patterson in Scotland about 4 years ago. I looked at this car and it had appeal, better brakes and well sorted for racing. They are what they are and have a very functional cabin which may be noisey and hot for road use. I noticed that the rear spoiler was removed from the Russell Paterson car, as is with the BHM racer. The owner of the Russell Paterson car used this forum for a year or so and was looking for interior trim to make the car better for the road, not sure how he got on.

Yes it's the same car that Russell had for sale a few yes ago its the ex Phil Mckelvie car and fairly sure it was one of the factory demo cars I certainly remember Mark Baldwin driving the car as a road car a lot I also drove the car in period!!! Brands Hatch have the car for sale and owned by Brett @ Brands Hatch give him a ring I would have thought it would be a great road with lots of torque, Brett has done loads to the car so would want for nothing a great car.

Looks like the same car - same colour and appears to have a boot lid that would once of carried a massive spoiler.
The standard series 1 is basically a race car for the road - this car is road capable, but its spartan inside so I guess knowing more about the intended road usage would make it easier to make a recommendation. Previous owner was on here, may be worth a search through the aero section to find them...

I have just a chat with my friend who seems very undecided.
His main purpose is to have a road car.
He needs a hartop now after many hood problems with usual french vandalism.He knows that hardtops are very uncommon on Series I but he just has a look to a later Aero and definitely gives his preference to series I'look .
Moreover Series I ground clearance would be slightly superior and that could not be quite immaterial on some local roads...
Finally main objections of Brands Hatch car are, in his opinion, its high mileage, especially for a partly race car, and difficulties in using alternately hood and hardtop on this special car.
I think he will pop over to Brands Hatch Morgans soon to get to the bottom of the matter....
