1) It is supposed to move up and down, I get that part, but - and this is a big but, I fear - is it supposed to move sidewaýs?

Trying to find the "klacking" noise I´ve had from day one on hitting bumps (mainly front right) I have come to realize that the forward attachment of the upper wish bone moves several millimeters sideways when the wheel, or wish bone itself, is pushed backwards (right side more so than the left).
Pushing back on the mud guard is enough, actually.

Letting go gives a sound not far from what I described above.

Can this be right? Aren´t suspensions sensitive to this kind of stuff? Wear and tear, if nothing else?

This would be my best suggestion for the "klacking" noise, and I really want it gone.

And, yes, I have bump steer.

More:
2) something quite sharp is eating its way through the back rest leather at my right hip (center of car, LHD you know). What is that sharp edge, does anyone know?

3) Car not exactly up to spec when delivered, but the parts have arrived. Dealer recommended mechanic is on holiday.

4) Paint not up to standard here and there and will be corrected. Also, the "radiator" part of the cowl was glossy, not matte like the rest of the car.

5) Mechanical noises almost overpower the engine. Sibilant "pebbles in a tin can" noise from engine, loud noise from what I belive to be the bevel box and rattling from belt when engine braking. Mine was built in April and I can´t imagine what an old bevel box sounds like if mine is the quiet type.

6) Small oil leak front right fixed at first service.

7) Seat belt keeps twisting on me.

8) Thirstier than I thought it would be. Meter shows empty with 20 liters to go.

Very glad I read about the skip fire mode, as it would have scared the heck out of me. Quite a funky sound, though.

Even so enjoying no 674 fully! Smile wide. No regrets. Never had so many people wave and/or taking pictures.

Engine note darker, more burbly. It coughs, hiccups and f@rts... A lot of fun. Left exhaust much louder than the right. Normal?

Interested in your "klacking" noise, I get that on speed bumps but havent identified where its coming from.

Where was the oil leak? I have oil at the base of the chrome pushrod cover... Dealer said its probably coming from the oil breather which is somewhere behind the air filter. I dont see any trace of oil from further up, but havent taken the air cleaner off to check.

Are you sure the left exhaust is louder? Not just closer to your ear, as you are left hand drive like me I presume?

The sound resembles a sheet of metal dropped on a work bench, or maybe more like a half inch rod of metal snapped on one. A short hefty sound.
Does your wishbone move like mine? Push backwards on the mud guard or the wishbone itself. The front center moves outwards.

The leak was front right, the metal nipple connecting the hose to the engine had to be tightened, as well as the hose clamp.

Thought of that already, the right one is quieter when outside the car as well. "Puff puff" in stead of "putt putt", if you like. Hmmm, onomatopoetry might not be my thing.

A bit surprised about the lack of response. Has this been covered already? It sure was news to me. Wrong bush, no bush or is it worn out already?

I don't think it is something that most of us have experienced, but it does not sound good. There really shouldn't be any lateral movement in the suspension bushes, I would either get it back to your dealer or contact MMC asap.

I didn´t think so either. I have had cars with less travel in a bush that failed MOT because of it.

Will contact the dealer, but the recommended mechanic is on holiday anyway.

Any thoughts on my other issues?

You do have a lot of problems to sort. I'm not too sure what you can do, other than go through them all with the dealer, whose job it is to sort them out. If they can't or won't deal with them, then write to the managing director at MMC, Mr Steve Morris I believe and see what response you get, but dealer first.

Just had a go at pushing the mudguard, it's rock solid, no movement there (but some fingerprints now )

Did notice that the three rubber bushes holding (what I think is the) rectifier on are already perished though(!), in stark contrast to the rest of the car which still looks new

I didn't want to chime in immediately as I had to do a few things before I could get down to the garage and investigate a right front noise just like you describe. First thing I noticed was movement on the forward top wishbone again as you described. Left side absolutely fine so started taking things apart - with the right wheel, mudguard and shock removed the movement was very clear so I started to remove the wishbone; all the bolts were properly tight but came undone ok. Got it far enough apart to see that the bush actually looked ok and at that point decide to put it back together. Put the bolts into the the wishbone mounts and tightened them up and hey presto, no movement anymore! Slightly confused I backed them off and re-tightened them a couple of times before sticking the shock back in - still with no movement.
Conclusion? Nothing firm just yet, I'm putting new tyres on tomorrow and will take it out and see if the movement comes back.

After reading this thread I thought I would go and check mine. Near side upper wishbone front bush has excessive play when the wishbone is pushed back and forth. No other wishbone bushes have any appreciable play in them.

One of my neighbours has an MOT testing station, I got him to have a look at it and he says he would fail it! Car has done 1043 miles, this does not look good for longevity.
