Has anyone listed a nice to have travel spares kit yet?

I am planning a long jaunt in France and imagined it might be wise to take a few spares. Clutch and accelerator cables etc.

I had planned to get a leather strap to secure tool roll etc beside the battery under the "bonnet".

Any suggestions please?

Yesterday I was at Melvyn Rutter and they fitted a very neat double strap with turnbuckles that holds the tool kit beneath the passenger side fascia. It is visible but does not obstruct getting in and out. They have all the leather colours and they ran it up in their trim shop while I waited. I am sure that they can recommend a suitable list of parts to take with you.

Extensively discussed here.

Edit: sorry, didn't notice it was for a 3 wheeler!

I would recommend a couple of spare rubber bushings (not sure of the correct name) for holding the rectifier and exhaust in place. With my car, one that was holding the rectifier split in two and those that are keeping the exhausts in place are looking pretty tired. I haven't yet found a source for replacements, although I managed to get a similar sized one for the rectifier (but I don't think that this would suit the exhaust as it is a few mm larger).

funny you mention the rubber grommets. when my rectifier failed a few months in to ownership the grommets had already rotted/failed as well. fast forward a few months later to last week when i was getting my belt realigned for the 4th time and i noticed the grommets on the exhaust heat shield were failing.

ugh, add that to the list of stuff that still needs to be fixed/done.

Seven grommets have gone now, 4 exhuast & 3 rectifier. Another one on the rectifier found spilt last night. Collected a bag of them today from dealer (Thanks Melvyn) who has put some from a +8 larger ones in and I'm going to try and fit these larger ones to the rectifier to see if they last.. well longer anyway would be a start smile

incredibly frustrating. let us know how the +8 ones work. it still blows my mind how much unnecessary warranty work has to be done to each car. you can just hear the margins shrinking. so sad because it doesn't have to be like this
