The bevel box failed around 400km. Newly built, so I am not sure he problem has yet been identified and solved. The replacement bevel box was couriered in from the factory.
I would propose you ask MMC (or whoever ou bought from) to run a few dozen miles, and then let them change the bevel box oil. If it looks clear, that should be a good indicator everything is in order.

Great info/idea (I would propose you ask MMC (or whoever ou bought from) to run a few dozen miles, and then let them change the bevel box oil. If it looks clear, that should be a good indicator everything is in order) what oil does it take? I ordered it through the factory

i have been told by the dealer that morgan is claiming the bevel boxes that are being installed on new trike are as good as they will get for whatever that's worth. i'm currently torn between my compensator/cushdrive/alternator issues and the belt/sprocket/bevel box shenanigans.
all that being said i've had a blast driving the last 5,000 miles in a wildly imperfect car but still doesn't excuse the QC and apparent lack of proper engineering on morgan's part...just saying

Took mine in at 5,000 miles since the belt was drifting a bit off and rubbing against the frame. Did not do any serious damage to the belt but it had to be trued up and the tension adjusted. While at it the dealer changed out the oil in the bevel box and put in an 80/140 synthetic gear oil. The stock oil, according to the manual, is just that but my dealer had his doubts. It appears to be a bit quieter to my ears. I still have a high-pitched whine but much of the other noises are reduced. The bevel box has a magnetic drain plug and did catch some debris but not terribly much.
Other thing to note is the wear on the rear spline is much more advanced than the front one as the rear is made of aluminum and the front, steel. The drive belt is catching all the flying debris and gradually wearing down the teeth. Enough to see and detect a difference. Front appears to have minimal wear.
Another item on the checklist...
What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

Do you think it would be prudent to swap for one made of steel?

Do you think it would be prudent to swap for one made of steel? Have no idea if any are made of steel. Aluminum makes too much sense on the rear wheel in order to reduce weight. Everyone is doing everything possible to reduce weight for emissions and handling.
