I still can't decide the best way to get seated. Is it bum on seat then swing legs in or one leg in, sit and swing last leg simultaneously? Or perhaps there's a secret third way, known only to the ancients of Mogdom

One hand on the centre behind the gear lever the other on the steering wheel, then left leg under steering wheel then right leg. RHD of course

No elegant way. Just make sure you and your passengers do not use the windscreen or door for support and the driver does not use the steering wheel. I am a left leg in, bum on seat and lift right leg in man.

Left leg in whilst at the same time putting hand over left trouser pocket to protect Motolita from loose change and house-keys, right hand over rear hip pocket to protect seat side-leather from being scratched by zip or button, then right leg in, stretch out and - $od it, I've forgotten something...

I'm the same as Wirewheel...except I have to give the door a gentle kick with my right foot to prevent it slamming closed on my leg....not having the door checks!!

Hood down: stand on the cross member in front of the seat, one hand on the top of the dash and the other on the side of the seat and then slide down into the seat whilst moving the feet and legs forward under the steering wheel. Hood up: one leg in then bend double and put the head in followed by the rest of the body, sit down and get settled then lift in the other leg.
Once seated, smile, start the car, smile again whilst waiting a moment for it to warm, insert gear, smile again and don't stop until you get out. If you really must you can keep smiling for some time afterwards.

What ever way is the fastest being a short a*se has its advantages , bum first and lift both legs in, or bum followed by left leg then right leg . Its the routine fastening the seat belt , locking the doors then checking things off like the choke , the heater and flaps etc . Pulling on my hat and gloves before its blast off . I said its like climbing ito my fighter plane and just as much thrill .

Left leg in, bum on seat, lift right leg and FORCE it on under the steering wheel. Reverse to remove oneself.
I realy must get a smaller steering wheel.
The doorchecks have helped hugely with this, in and out.

Sage advice.
Decided to cease with one hand on window screen and one hand on top of seat and sort of flopping in.
After experimenting, I have settled on left leg in, followed by bum then swinging right leg in - no support required now (though might need a truss in a couple of years).
