Quaiffe are the Kings of gearboxes/transmissions - so am v v v surprised that there have been all these BB issues. Mine was changed and now is fine. I do wonder if a lot of supposed BB issues are in fact rear belt drive noises?? mine was upgraded and the car now has no tranny noise at all - so it makes you wonder?

I still have front end issues as we all do! So do not think that I am 100% sorted or happy:((

m3boy - good to know this. The BB has had new synthetic 80/140 gear oil added to it and it is now barely perceptible. My dealer was of the opinion that, even though the manual spec's out the oil as being synthetic 80/140, it clearly wasn't. The belt and the rear sprocket are still doing their thing and making incredible high pitched squeaks now and then depending on throttle or lack of same. At this point I'm leaning on the idea of sound suppression more than anything else as it is clearly not damaging, just annoying. The great majority of the sound is coming through the seat belt access and the gaps from the bodywork and the frame. When I have sufficient down time it will be addressed. It's very much like having that eardrum being drilled by this high pitched whine.

Michael , as I mentioned in another thread , since having had a new rear sprocket fitted (with lip on each side ) all squeaks have stopped completely.
I seem to have been lucky with my bevel box which has been quiet from day one .

Really? Mine is so loud I can hardly think. This isn't just an earplugs car, it's a fully in-ear custom moulded silicon thing that the F1 boys wear under their helmets (actually, mine comes next week - ProGuard Fleximonitor in-ear headphones...!). Never one to turn down the opportunity to get another gadget, but even these will have a hard time keeping the noise under control I fear...

I have the latest sprocket with lip to hold belt in place and I will try the silicon spray approach too, just in case that helps. My tinnitus sure won't be getting any better under M3W ownership anytime soon....

IMHO the new rear belt sprocket is a must! It stopped all the Screeching - which was frankly becoming unbearable. BTW the sprocket itself is a v nice piece of engineering - it looks v Harley Davidson to me - but I am not a HD man so stand to be corrected - what I can tell u is that it simply works!!

Mine has the new sprocket - still loud as h£ll...

DocNik try spraying the belt and both drives with a good quality silicon spray - it cannot do any harm and might just do the trick!

Its not easy to do properly and u need to move the car forwards/backwards to get the spray on evenly.
