New car, 200 km and a very annoying chirping noise coming from the right passenger side underneath "dashboard". Thinking of wood against chassis.
Any suggestions?

Otherwise loads of fun even in thunderstorm rain and usual shortcomings such as gear knob loose and water in back booth (who engineered this....?)
Early chassis < 100 so Suplex chock absorbers and not too much bump steer. Bevel box whine > 90km
But overall what a joy and people in the streets and on the road are just smiling as much.

Only a guess...bonnet rubbing against the bonnet tape. Apply some vaseline to the tape and go for a drive (it's an excuse smile ) and see if that works.....

Ich mußte mehrfach Schrauben nachziehen: Außpuffschelle vorn Außpuffhitzeschild,Armlehnen,Fußraum vorn,Motorhaube an den Verschlüssen zusätzlich abgepolstert, alle Schrauben im Holz nachziehen.Die Schrauben für die Kofferraumwanne weggelassen.Sind meiner Meinung nach überflüssig. Ich kann nur deutsch entschuldigung. Fahre schon 6000 km Ulli

I have had this noise since new, but have found a cure.

It seems to be the bottom of the dashboard rubbing / vibrating against the chassis tube that runs behind and near the bottom of the dashboard. While driving, try gently pulling back the bottom of the dashboard and you should find the chirping disappears.

I also found that a passenger would often make the noise disappear, and sometimes the noise got worse as the car warmed up - maybe just because of friction and touch-points.

Anyway, I took some small rubber pieces and gently pushed them between the dashboard and the chassis tube, and the noise disappeared.

Oddly enough it's reappeared a bit recently but still goes when I gently tug the dashboard. I need to make sure the rubber bits haven't slipped. Anything that gently dampens the contact between dashboard and tube should work.

I hope! Good luck!!!

Tried solving this chirping noise but not luck yet. I have the impression that when humidity is higher the chirping gets worse. Could it have anything to do with the wooden frame on which the shell is bolted. This noise is so high pitched that it is ruining my drives :-)

make sure that the metal chassis is tightly mounted to the wooden frame. There are clearly obvious bolts to the RHS and the LHS of the chassis as u sit in the drivers seat. Tighten these down - or try the rubber insert trick posted above.

hope this helps cheers

Thanks, by bolts do you mean the posidrive screws. I can see 2 on the RHS and should be 2 on the LHS but the one behind the pedals is missing...
Is there any better way to get access to these or else i will hire my neighbor's 5 year old kid to help out :-))
Can you have a look at the pictures and tell me if normal?
Tks a lot

No - there is one to the RHS and LHS of the upper cockpit just above the 12v socket on the LHS and mirror position on the RHS - there are probably more along this chassis rail - but I found tightening these two helped - so hope it works for u:)) cheers

are we talking about the same car? ;-) Cannot find any bolt above the 12V socket or near to it. Attached a few extra pictures. I can only see 3 posidrives that link the wooden frame to the chassis..
Tks innocent
