Aero 8 - Series 1 in Rolls Royce Larkspur Blue (Mr_Tony's car)

Was this originally Melvyn Rutter's car as it looks like his and is very similar to my Series I car before buying the GTN?

I doubt it - there is at least one other in a similar colour out there though.
I bought mine from SGT in 2005 when it had covered only 1600 miles in two years (registered 2003) - the owner had emigrated to the USA.

The owners manual / handbook has a car on the cover with a remarkably similar colour though, which may well be Melvyn's and the reason why this chap specced this colour combo...

Thanks. I was only interested as I know Melvyn's car (which he had as one of the original dealer demo cars in 2001) was in this RR colour and he used it to get me to buy one in a similar but slightly more vibrant Volvo metallic in 2002. I've always thought that a colour in this range suits the Aero very well and only changed because of my switch to the GTN in 2004.

It's a great colour.
Love the gTN though - the top gear clip does make me want one.

What are the real differences compared to the standard MKI? Is the interior substantially updated? The leather looks quilted in the photos...

For me the GTN interior works really well. The carbon fibre dash and piano black woodwork go really well, especially with the standard Moto-Lita wheel. In addition, the black leather is actually perforated rather than quilted, a bit like Mercedes do but IMO much better looking. The only adverse comment I've ever had is that some people don't like the black wheels and I've seen some owners change back to silver.

In terms of performance differential to the Series I you would note the firmer ride (but it's not unpleasant), flatter and therefore faster cornering and even more torque for powering away. Plus the noise from the side-exhausts is bliss! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
