Sorry to be a pest again with my questions, but my car seems to have an added extra I didn't ask for, an intermittent whistle that seems to come from somewhere on the drivers side (when the car is moving of course). It seems to be dependant to some extent to the direction of the wind.

On occasions its really loud, its as if there is someone blowing on a tin whistle. It happens with hood up, hood down, side screens on or off, wipers in different positions, I've even opened the door to see if that made any difference.

I've tried putting foam under the edge of the bonnet, and blocking off the heater box and openings in the tool box, all to no effect.

I've looked at the bulkhead to see in any grommets are missing, I even put a light under the bonnet to see if I could see anything shining through under the dash or in the foot wells, to no effect.

Next I'll try masking off the bonnet louvres, although I can't see it being that or every Morgan would be whistling along ....

Looks like ear plugs for me if no one has any ideas :-(

I have known this to wind whistling through the headlight surround trim. Easy to establish if it is, just apply some tape around the trim and headlightvand see if it cures it...

Perhaps it means the kettle has boiled and it's time for tea?

What about the base of the screen? Is the rubber seal sitting down firmly on the scuttle?

I had a similar effect on my 1992 plus 4. It was the end of the windscreen rubber.

I think there was another post on this last week. I get a similar whistle with the sidescreens off. I still have not found the source, and yes, it does seem to depend on wind direction.

Yes it is a bit like a kettle boiling, I am tempted to nickname it "The Kettle".

The windscreen rubber is tight against the scuttle except for two areas where (from memory) it crosses the other rubber seal holding the main frame on. However, this the the same on the other side and that doesn't whistle.

This whistle is there with side screens on or off .....

Try moving the mirrors, or place a hand in front of the drivers door mirror and see if it stops (you can try the passengers one if you find a nice long piece of straight road!!!)

I think I had something similar and positioned mine 'up' or close to the side screen (by moving the arm in the bracket). It made a difference (i have the Librand round ones and cut around an inch off the stem and meant I could lower them as well and they still give me great vision to the rear (as you would hope!) innocent

The only item which whistles on my car is the aerial when in place. I guess you have already checked this possibility.
