Maybe that is why I like used motors (apart from the fiscal reasons)...

I will not be able to afford a new car unless either premium bonds deliver or my 1 ticket per week on the lottery comes up.
I have in the past bought 3 new sailing yachts increasing in size each time. The first 12-24 months were always spent getting them sorted from warranty items to things I wished I had specified differently. It was fun though specifying something that was all mine and uniquely so; part of the pleasure and frustration in equal measure was getting it sorted. . A friend always buys yachts that are 2 years old and have the problems fixed and then customized them.
I think out of preference I would specify a new Morgan because it would have a large element of me in it. I enjoy fixing things and that I guess would sway the argument for people. If you are happy tinkering and have patience new is the way to go.
In my case once he dust has finally settled I will look for a Mog that has been cared for but driven, I think low mileage on an older car would put me off, low mileage in Morgan terms judging by other threads would be under 3k per year.
The other option I guess is go really old and restore or part restore but not for me as part of it is the driving experience that I miss since selling in 1986

Rather than closing, let's get back on topic. I must admit I have bought far more used cars than new. This however normally tends to be for fiscal reasons and as such slightly irrelevant for this discussion. As such taking out any financial advantage, and introducing Morgan and their foibles I personally would probably prefer a new car simply for the joy of anticipation. We all know that most of the joy of a new car is the initial thought process, the search and then the excitement leading up to collection  oh of course with our cars the enjoyment doesn't end, far from it, but it's a different enjoyment. The stages are probably more akin to those we go through when meeting our better halves, the thrill of the chase, the twinge of the heart strings when you see a reciprocation and the euphoria of falling head over heels. The period of ownership is then similar to the deep love of a good woman after the initial 'excitement' and adrenalin has worn off. A good solid affection and bond and of knowing you are both meant to be together, fully respecting each others wants and needs. ok ok so I may have gone a tad off topic, and a bit mad  but you know what I mean. and thus, to get back on line, that's why a prolonged buying process would swing me over the 'hassle' of getting those little niggles sorted  This hits the nail on the head for me. There is as much pleasure - perhaps more - in the anticipation and planning of something as there is in the possession of the thing. Those months I spent anticipating and planning my car down to the last detail were a huge pleasure. Now I have the car and its still a huge pleasure (despite one or two niggles  ) - but at least its exactly the car I planned for and dreamed about  PS - my wife still gives me an adrenalin rush

That is right I think, an exorcism for removal of lawyers, I get so confused. On no my mistake, that's politicians.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

That is right I think, an exorcism for removal of lawyers, I get so confused. On no my mistake, that's politicians. Politicians are justly maligned. We lawyers get a bad press for reasons I cannot fathom

It's probably the likes of "ambulance chasers" that cause such ire! This is true. Although most ambulance chasers are not solicitors any more - they are usually claims or insurance companies.

Yes Graeme I am reading this and I dont like what I am seeing I feel horrid inside and feel guilty that because I wrote what I was told and took as the total truth the person who told me I would trust as 100% honest. I have pulled Gerwyn into a situation that he has now had to drop his disguise that hangs heavy on me and I am sorry for that . I joined TM to enjoy the exchange of words have a laugh make harmless fun of myself and others in the hope that I did not offend its slipped at times . But we must all think that its not like speaking in the pub where we can see and hear it, we read it as our brain see's it and may come over as harsh even nasty . I am in one sence gratefull that the moderators have let us have our say and in another sence wish it had been stopped but that is up to Simon , Brian, and Andy they work out when to pull the pug. I remember my late dad an ex army man telling me " If you are man enough to dish it out boy , you should be man enough to take it " . I asked then what do you do when it over . " You say sorry boy " and what if the other person wont take it , " You have said sorry if he is not man enough to take thats his fault not yours you have said sorry ". He then said something that has stuck in my head for years " It takes a strong man to say sorry , but an even stronger man to accept it " . I think I have said enough I now feel tearfull thinking of my late dad. I dont want to write or say anymore on this subject. J.T. You reading this rubbishadvice JTL (Just in case you thought you had steered it back to topic Boshly) But I agree the thrill of the hunt is usually in the chase

My cousin and his wife are both London 'commercial' lawyers, both work extraordinary hours even by my standards.
Having just been through a divorce and paid her costs and mine (she never worked and I divorced her) I can only say that solicitors work very long hours and charge accordingly and they are an easy target for 'humor'....
I am curious for instance as to why Clipper upgraded to a car 2 years younger, is it a question of going for the newest you can afford or are they changes in spec by a certain year for a model that make it much improved?
