I think it can be a combination of factors ( God, that's profound, isn't it!0 For example: 4/4 cvh owner wants Zetec of Duratec power unit 4/4 owner wnats more mid range torque Wings etc are looking a bit tatty and along comes car with superforms owner's current car doesn't have alloy bulkhead and car only a couple of years younger comes along which has- perhaps easier to change car than get the bulkhead sorted owner of 4/4 is a Vee8 nut and spanking Plus 8 comes along There are loads of others. Rather than closing, let's get back on topic. I must admit I have bought far more used cars than new. This however normally tends to be for fiscal reasons and as such slightly irrelevant for this discussion. As such taking out any financial advantage, and introducing Morgan and their foibles I personally would probably prefer a new car simply for the joy of anticipation. We all know that most of the joy of a new car is the initial thought process, the search and then the excitement leading up to collection  oh of course with our cars the enjoyment doesn't end, far from it, but it's a different enjoyment. The stages are probably more akin to those we go through when meeting our better halves, the thrill of the chase, the twinge of the heart strings when you see a reciprocation and the euphoria of falling head over heels. The period of ownership is then similar to the deep love of a good woman after the initial 'excitement' and adrenalin has worn off. A good solid affection and bond and of knowing you are both meant to be together, fully respecting each others wants and needs. ok ok so I may have gone a tad off topic, and a bit mad but you know what I mean. and thus, to get back on line, that's why a prolonged buying process would swing me over the 'hassle' of getting those little niggles sorted  +1, I agree generally but have got more enjoyment from Rosie than most of my previous cars. Tweaking and tuning and sorting the steering out and getting in tip/top condition has been really enjoyable. I grin every time I take her for a spin and love it when others wave or come up and chat to me about her. I also respect her wants and needs and realise like all women she can't be perfect, and needs tender loving care.

At the risk of raking up history and goodness knows as a republican Welshman I have no truck with the 'Paint the Empire pink' brigade) but you might want to think on this before you disregard the name In the later part of the Great War, perhaps the most successful squadron in the whole of the British Forces was the RNAS @Black Flight' commanded by Raymond Collishaw DSO DFC- a Canadian. They Flew Sopwith Triplanes each of which was named after a 'Black ' character. Collishaw flew "Black Maria", Ellis Reid flew "Black Roger", John Sharman was in "Black Death" and Mel Alexander flew "Black Prince".. so I wouldn't be too hasty to bin 'Black Beauty' Cheers G

You know G, that's rather caught my imagination! Black Beauty it is! My pleasure. My great grandfather was in the RFC in that War and he always said that in terms of looks and grace the Tripe was the best. Unfortunately not in the same league as the SE5a ( Albert Ball's favourite plane). the Sopwith Camel or the Bristol fighter when it came to stopping power It was after being involved with a couple of dogfights with the Sopwith Tripe that Von Richthofen persuaded Antony Fokker to build the Fokker equivalent G

Note the reference to the camel http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grahame_DonaldHis son by his first marriage was killed flying in the Battle of Britain
