I was looking at the Morgan Coupe order sheet and wondering about the options list ? Exhausts Default is two at the back. Twin side exhausts and running board treat is one option. But the recent Blue LHD demo car seems to have quad rear. http://youtu.be/mkeaRYrXwV8The new Tillet sports seats don't make an appearance on the list but do in the X-Car video and Boshleys new P&J. http://youtu.be/OR6lwpfte9Q The dual tone interior (as per Blue demo car) is not listed. Full length bonnet louvres not listed but seen on some cars. There is no upgrade-the-ICE option anywhere which seems odd given most people seem to dislike the default device fitted. If anyone has recently purchased one of these and can provide any guidance I would be most interested in your feedback. The Quad rear vs Quad side exhaust is most interesting from a comfort and noise level in/out. So my ideal spec ends up being

I run the side exhaust on my plus 8 and at motorway speeds with the hood down, they are quite acceptable. Use the power though and they are very loud. Sound great though.

I would be most interested in your feedback. The Quad rear vs Quad side exhaust is most interesting from a comfort and noise level in/out. The Quad rear option is probably the Aero Racing system which I have on my car. Admittedly, mine is a 'Max rather than a Coupe but I presume that, as a fixed-head, the exhaust will sound the same as in a Coupe. I found my original twin pipes too anodyne - they didn't sound that special. The Aero Racing Quad pipes sound very fruity with large throttle openings and have a nice rumble at tickover, but when you are just cruising (which in an auto will be at 1200 - 1800 rpm) you can easily hold a conversation, use a blue-tooth phone etc without the exhaust noise intruding. However, a drawback of rear exit systems (twin and quad) is that there is scant ground clearance where the exhaust mid section 'elbows' to skirt the rear suspension. Because the exhaust tips are welded to the back box, fettling the rear hanger so that the back box and the elbow sit a little higher is easier with the single tips system because the twin tips will not sit level if the back box is raised too high. Of course, side exits neatly avoid clearance problems, but shout 'racer' rather than 'grand tourer' (which may be exactly what you want...). On other cars I tested, I found the side exits noticeably LOUDER in the cabin at cruising speed.

Thanks gents, thats exactly what I was looking for.
Having driven a couple of cars with the twin side pipes I was alarmed by how strong the sound was given a whiff of petrol. I am trying to decide if I can use a Coupe every day and the recent drive I had shouted NO in the Ivory car. As always my tiny brain will possibly be easily overridden by my heart on this subject.

I drove 2 Supersports within days of each other - 1 side exhaust - 1 rear.
IMHO the rear ones felt slightly quieter - especially when under heavy load. The side exhausts transported you from a road car to a LeMans GT racer. They impose themselves on the driving experience very strongly.
If you like big, bad, loud V8 sounding race cars - then go for the side exhausts. If you will be doing a lot of long drives then you may find the rear ones a little more civilized.

When I picked up the car (rear oo----oo Aero Racing)I asked the garage to replace the rear exhaust with the side ones. The made me think about it (losing anyhow some money) with the following points: 1. too noisy for a daily driving car 2. in the city traffic you'd smell the exhaust smell (not sure about the English wording)

And you are worried about the noise! It is loud enough!! 2) If you are driving in city traffic you'll get that from the car in front or next to you. (Not the smell but the fumes themselves) Admittedly it is all personal choice - but for me, side exhausts would be a must have (Still no update on "mine" yet)

I probably will go for them next year anyhow The good thing is that going from rear to side is "easy", the other way round is more complicated.

Go Alistair suggest you get up to the factory and see what is being built - there will no doubt be other options that are not currently in the list, whether wheels or trim options etc.. Always good to have a wander and a chat there - you never know..

As for exhaust - I'm a side exit guy. But it's all about personal preference - have what you want..l
