Actually, you are quite right, there are no measured performance figures - I wonder why?
Well, it will be up to us to do some in gear acceleration times, easy enough with a GPS and a stop watch, it'll have to be two up of course, so will look quite slow.

After years of being fascinated with going as quick as possible to 60 or the speed limit (yeah right) with TVRs, Porsche, Lotus and Caterhams I now have an M3 V8 which is quite fast enough. My M3W is adequately fast for anything I have wanted to do and the only figure I am looking at is SMILES PER GALLON. There may come a day where I want to tweak a few more horses from the front end but not yet.

I have to agree. Back in 2002 I bought a new M3 convertible, with flappy paddle gearchange, but found it so boring to drive that I sold it within 2 years. Even witht he hood down, I found that to get a sensation of speed, I had to be travelling at insane speeds, dangerous speeds really. Even at 100mph it only felt like 70. I found the Caterham much better in that department, at 70 it felt like 100, much safer and more fun. The M3w is the same, it feels fast at a sensible speed.

The problem is that any 'normal' car feels boring after the M3W , I have also noticed how restricted your vision is when getting back in other cars .

@HJP - I live with my top down in my miata rain or shine. Recently I was in the car with my girlfriend and she asked if I could put the top up while we traveled right before we got hit by rain. I had all but forgotten what a blind spot was.

I have been out on a number of runs with the Leeds Supercar Club and it will keep up with Ferraris, Porches and Lambos on A & B roads without a problem. Although I feel I am at 10/10ths sometimes where they are probably not, but I know who is having the most fun at 70-80mph. ME!!!

I thought I was posing an interesting question. Evidently I was mistaken.

I thought I was posing an interesting question. Evidently I was mistaken. You did pose an interesting question! The problem is that only Autocar seemed to done a test but I don't recall them doing the usual full magazine test with analysis of in gear speeds etc. Perhaps the car isn't seen by them as a serious car and therefore doesn't warranty it? As far as topic drift is concerned, if you read this forum long enough you'll see that we all do it.....part of the charm of TM.
