As an owner of a 5 speed Three Wheeler, I have not needed to have much to do with the factory afersales service, but reading a few posts on here, over time, it does, on occasions seem to leave something to be desired, so, if I were in the market for a 4 wheeler, would I actually be better off going for a nearly new car, which someone has had the hassle and frustration of de-bugging, or, given the funds, would it still be best to go down the new route, and take my chances between a dealer and the factory's service? I am not particularly interested in speccing up my own unique car, and have no real preference as to colour and finish, so it would come down to what is available s/h at the time.

For me a large part of the enjoyment when buying new was the ability to have a car built to my own specification. I was originally looking at a "previously loved" Morgan but when the opportunity came to buy new, with just a 5 week lead-time from specification to delivery, I jumped at it.
If you're not fussed about the colour and finish then maybe 'previously loved" is the way to go - but it doesn't necessarily mean all the glitches have been ironed out!

It's been said before but if you look around, the car will chose you. It sounds odd, but you'll find that a certain car will be irresistable.

LOL...the car certainly chooses you! Weird!!

You don't have to buy one and keep it forever. It is a bit like houses, you buy one, keep and maintain it. You move to a newer one or different model. Also a bit like houses once you have joined the ladder it is unusual to ever choose to leave. I know we won't be without one now.

I took Maria to see a Mini at the dealership some time back and she just said "naa" but then she saw the demonstrator and went "that one". It did chose her at that point, it was just the right one. Having said that it totally stuffed the pricing discussion.

We have had 4 x Morgan four wheelers in the last 15 years, apart form the first one which was suggested by my brother-in-law (an ardent 3 wheeler) the others have been more impulse on seeing the car than any thought through process of requirements or spec. ....

Whilst they have not jumped out and caught me by the ankles demanding to be bought, they certainly have been sort of irresistible once we set eyes on them. Apart from the first one which was used for 15 years as a chicken coop, all have been previously loved and I do not regret the purchase of any of them (not even the first one).

Part of my enjoyment has been in improving the car once I owned it, either getting it roadworthy, making it more comfortable, safer or faster .... I am in the camp of pre-loved and wait until you see one that says ... that's mine.

Hello Paul, I agree with Allan it is such a thrill to agonize over all the different options color etc. I think it was 2 years for me from when I first accidently came across the Morgan Marque to getting one a lot of do I don't I, I sat in a few (to check fit etc. as I am 6 'with size 14 feet so found the earlier models just a tad small on the room for feet knees. I only wish I had found this site before purchasing as I would have asked many questions. I have had my mog now for 8 mths. thoroughly enjoying it, still ironing out the odd niggle but dealer and workshop been a pleasure to work with.

Having done both during the last 11 years I can honestly say the preowned is the easier and less tedious route.

All the Q & A has been sorted out during the first 2 years or so.

Whichever route you chose, once you fall in Love reason goes out the window to be replaced with mountains of enjoyment.

Being on my fourth Morgan, the key for me has been the knowledgeable and reliable dealership.

They are the final quality/de-bugging check before the customer takes delivery, and their reputation depends on getting it right.

Your key relationship is with the traditional dealer who knows about Morgan's.

I've been both routes and agree it probably depends on the dealer - My current Mog, a 2009 plus4 was bought new from Newtown Motors in Wales -- I had ZERO problems so I guess they did their pre-delivery properly! Just as well as I am "over the pond" from them!!!
