When you look at the design of the cross head you can see how the top may flex under heavy braking. The stays are a simple and cheap mod and must give some additional support. They are on my list of things to do....along with a Panhard rod. The $1000 question is! Will Nero end up as heavily modified at your late 4/4?   Bud   You know me too well Mr B! It's all part of what I enjoy!! At least I don't need throttle bodies!!! In answer to fitting the Brake Reaction Bars....very straightforward. You undo the top nut on the suspension to fit the top of the bar.....don't worry, nothing comes adrift! You have to drill a hole in the chassis top flange for the lower fastening of the bar and then just bolt it on.

It takes about 20mins a side - most of that is removing the wheels. If you can drill a hole with an electric drill the job is a doddle!! remove the top suspension bolt re-fit bolt through stay - loosely fit the stay - mark where you need to drill on the chassis. Drill hole. paint bare metal in hole with primer. bolt stay in place. Tighten both bolts - Job done

If you make your own Pete, the 'originals' have a thick washer welded on the top of the end which fits the top kingpin bolt. Otherwise it's a tube flattened at both ends and bent into a shallow S shape. The 'originals' are stainless steel.

And they are cheap - under £40/pair. Not sure if it's worth the trouble to make your own.

I've taken the easy route: Williams will fit a pair on Monday.
Also going for new pads, hope to have a bit more feel..so to speak.

I resisted the urge to fit brake reaction bars to my Roadster, read somewhere that they have an adverse effect on road holding and handling when cornering.

I resisted the urge to fit brake reaction bars to my Roadster, read somewhere that they have an adverse effect on road holding and handling when cornering. Perhaps, but they are easy enough to remove. To be honest I'd have thought they would improve things as they stiffen the front axle assembly against the frame at the top of the struts, so breaking whilst cornering would be improved and the suspension wouldn't react to the torque reaction from the brakes. I'll have to wait and see. Fitting the Suplex suspension upgrade has made a big positive improvement.
