After only a few days of ownership and 2300km my S&S engine failed. The car had already been through it's first service and everything was fine. Noticed it while stopped for fueling. Not sure how it happened.
It looks like a screw from the timing belt came off and pushed through the front casing.

Waiting for the replacement parts and transportation I'm told by the dealer in Germany that it will be over a month before I get the car back. Apparently not even the factory in England has the necessary spare parts on hand. Really disappointed at that as cold weather is coming and I hate to lose so much of the precious driving season.

I searched for people with similar problems but couldn't find anything so posting this as a record for someone that may encounter the same thing.

Sorry to see that , I hope you manage to get back on the road sooner than predicted.
I did hear of someone having a broken Cam/timing belt but nothing like your problem .

Personally, I wouldn't be repairing that, a full new motor would only be acceptable ooo

Real shame, guess it wasn't torqued up correctly. Issue is what else has been missed?

Surely they could take a cover from a stock engine as a temporary. Fix to get you on the road.

+1, but I would also be requesting a new engine.

Ouch!

I wonder which bolt it is. It looks like one of the top "corner" ones.

Looks like the bottom pulley to me. In my opinion you are unlikely to get a replacement engine as it's a simple fix given a new casing/pulley/nut.

I wouldn't request anything, I'd DEMAND an new engine. You know they have plenty of them ready to go in the factory.
