My mog is pure self indulgence, and it was only when I retired that I had the opportunity for that. When I was working everything had to have utility value first.

I bought my Morgan aged 37, after years of saving.
I also ran the cheapest rust bucket the rest of the year to afford the Mog.
Young men these days buy audis and the like. They're obsessed with accessories and billet wheels. Must haves is bluetooth, dsg and other abbreviations, I don't understand.

They think my og must be expensive, but I tell them they could afford it too, if they did'nt pay extra for a German car, and exchange it every third year.

Best keep your eyes on the market - I sold my '76 for £10k. Wanting some TLC, but certainly not major restoration. They are out there...
Some dealers do ask way over the top for restoration required examples though... grin2

I first wanted a Morgan after visiting the factory when I was 12 and when I was 22 took out a policy sp that I would hopefully have enough money in my mid 30's to buy one. Unfortunately, I had a serious back injury then and spent that money on an XJ6 as I needed a comfortable automatic. Following successful surgery I have then had to save the money again whilst building up a business and a growing family. I was fortunate we got our Morgan a couple of months before my 50th birthday and now have friends who have and love Morgans too so it's all worked out now.

My first car was a 1936 Morgan 4/4 with Coventry Climax engine and chassis number 045. I was 17 years old.
Fast forward 40+ years and I now have a 4/4 again. I bought it a few years back as a retirement present to myself, am in no hurry to go anywhere and spend time fettling and driving. Sheer enjoyment.

I had to consider when purchasing my 'classic' the similar quandary.. I was 51 would I 'grow out' of a Lotus, was MG too difficult to find a reliable car (or too common hide), could I grow into a Morgan?

Guess the answer! The decider was the car that found me a racy number (perhaps) but it does seem that we have made many friends younger and older and we all have the same passion (at least with cars!) I believe the models that Morgan are creating with sport and competition models will lower and add to the demographic and ensure a long and healthy community. The great thing is your car can be a racer, cruiser or 'Gin Palace' they are all loved and admired by all!

I'm 45 and waiting for my first Morgan.

I have tried a nice variety of sports cars and had fun many of these years. However i find most new sports cars to be boring, competent, but boring.
To good is not good at all!
I want something with lots of character and found that it's the not so perfect details that make the car interesting.

What you buy is a tradition, a history, a talking point, a passion, a hobby, a heartache, a nuisance, a melodrama, a low , a high.........the list goes on

I still maintain my fleet of "old girls" - they all have their little foibles but I would part with none of 'em

1967 Series 2a Landrover
1967 Jaguar e-type roadster
1973 Morgan Plus 8
1977 Triumph Stag
1980 Morgan Plus 8
1988 Birkin S3
1989 Jaguar XJS coupe
2002 Porsche Boxster

The wet car is a Discovery or the wife's Peugeot 308, but where's the fun in them?

Call me a masochist, but that trembling moment of "will if fire / reverse/ engage/ stop............ - you get the idea, is what it is all about!

Maybe it's the petrol in our veins or the exhaust fumes in our lungs but I reckon the older you get, the more simple the pleasure becomes
