Jays,

Have tried our old TomTom sat nav, which seemed to lose signal in M3W. Perhaps the new ones are much improved wrt obtaining GPS signal.

I have the Starcom intercom fitted, so either direct plug in to the box, or bluetooth adapter should work ok.

Will keep looking. Thanks

Sat Nav problem sorted joy

Following suggestions on earlier posts I treated myself a second hand Garmin Montana 600 fully loaded with 50k OS mapping for UK. I now have a waterproof GPS that I can plug into the M3W intercom and can also attach an external antenna if required. The GPS can be used as a car sat nav and also as a regular GPS for hiking and when out and about on my bike. Should never get lost again...well maybe.
When I figure out the software I should be able to prepare and upload touring routes from my computer - rather than just get directions from A to B.

Better still, I've been able to source various bits of RAM mounting kit so that it can be installed in the M3W, in a place where I can actually see it whilst driving. However, the best bit is that most of the mounting kit is very easily removed, and what's left is not visible unless you put your head down the passenger footwell and look behind the dash. No drilling required smile

Very nice, a picture of the mounting behind the dash would be great if you can get one?

Silly question, please.

My intercom has never worked (although hoping to get it sorted at annual service in a couple of weeks). What do you have to do to see if it's working. I've tried plugging in the earpieces as the instructions seem to say but nothing happens. What do you do??

I keep meaning to see if it's got 12V but thought I'd ask just in case there's something I'm missing...

The RAM part you need to mount onto the tube behind the dash is RAM-MOUNT -RAM-B-108B - Mount V Base with 1 Ball and Straps. I ordered mine from Amazon:
RAM Mount V Base
Just undo the large jubilee clip and wrap it around the tube. I didn't bother with the rubber strap - too fiddly.

The next piece is the RAM Double Socket Standard Arm 1" Ball. For other sat navs you may want to try a longer arm.

RAM Standard Arm

After the arm you will need to get a RAM mount and ball fixing to suit your Sat Nav.

Wiscos - the intercom will only come to life if the Driver side headphones are plugged in. Mine only seems to work with the coiled extension lead fitted and you need to ensure it is all properly plugged together. When little red lights appear on the intercom unit it will be working
