The rear leaf spring on the drivers side has lost its boing! now the car is 2" lower on that side. It was a 5 leaf installed about 4 years ago in my 2004 plus 4.
I will refit a 5 leaf spring, but my question is - Do I need to take the seats out to access the front spring hanger? and is it right the front shackle must be undone first?

Can't help with the answers to your question as the only time I fitted new springs, I did it to a nude chassis so relatively easy.

But, you may need to fit a pair of springs as if the rates/stiffness's are different it could be horrid. Although the springs may be notionally the same, one is new and one is old.

You might be able to squeeze the spring out with the seat in place but it's so easy to get the seat out that I wouldn't struggle with it in.
The front mounting cover is held by self tappers into the wood, and the seat belt mounting. I can't comment on the order in which you do this job on Morgans, but access to the U bolts is almost impossible unless you block the spring in a compressed state, and then it becomes dangerous to un-compress. So that may be correct. What does Go-Mog say, because it's a fundamental of Morgan DIY jobs so I imagine there are some instructions on there.

Plenty of skinned knuckles on MGB rear ends, but not so far with Morgan leaf springs.
