Is anyone using an OBD II Bluetooth adapter with a recent Plus 4?

I am thinking of buying one to use in conjunction with my Anroid phone.

I am looking at the Elm 327 which seems to function with most software but I do not know if it works in the Morgan.

They are so cheap it has to be worth a punt just for fun.

I downloaded a copy of Torque for my Android phone. Within seconds I had it working and was able to cancel an error that was causing the engine warning light to remain on. The warning related to a problem with the catalyser in the exhaust system which, I hope, has now been fixed.

I'll report more on the exhaust system after I have had a chance to test it some more. It needs about 150 km to show if the new cat is functioning correctly.

You had a new exhaust system fitted Peter? Which one?

I had lots of problems with faulty lambda probe readings (the heater circuit failing) which I reset with my reader only to find it coming back a few hundred miles down the line. Cured now i've got the throttle body kit fitted...for some reason!

Peter, do you know if there is an equivalent Torque software/app that would allow this Bluetooth adaptor would work with an iPad, or is it just for Android devices?

Edit: A bit more research this evening suggests that it's unlikely this will pair up with the iPad. Apparently the Apple iOS isn't too "friendly" towards such Bluetooth devices. Shame really, it looks to be a handy bit if kit Peter.

Absolutely correct! I took jnr's iPad to the car after I downloaded a copy of iOBD2 from the Apple Store. The program is different to the Torque program for Android but it does seem to have most of the same features. However the iPad would not pair with the Bluetooth device. In fact it did not even find it.

Never buy "Rotten Fruit"

I guess you need to find a wifi version of the adaptor or a Bluetooth adaptor that will pair with Apple.

Update:

This is the error code I occasionally get. Seems that it may in part be due to the fact that the sports exhaust system is not paired with a suitable induction system and supplementary ECU.

I think I can see a nice set of throttle bodies and an Omex ECU in my crystal ball.

Are you sure it isn't one of the lambda sensors playing up?

No, the gas analysis (MOT) is out and that confirms the reading of the sonda lambda. I have 9 months to sort it out before I have to do the first MOT.

I am informed by a very competent person that fitting TBs and a supplementary ECU will fix the problem

As I mentioned before it is a common problem with sports exhaust systems.

PS. The sensors are working but it has been suggested by one workshop that a faster first sonda lambda may help and that may be worth investgating.

I had a look through the Interweb today and found an iOS solution. It would appear that there are not any approved iOS Bluetooth solutions.

I have ordered the Kiwi PLX 2 WiFi ODB Interface, its not cheap at around £100. This links onto the ODB port and then provides a WiFi interface for an Ad-Hoc WiLAN to the iPhone/Pad. I will be testing it with FuzzyCar and REVs.

Its not that I am expecting faults given there are now two Morgans in the garage or anything....
