I dropped my Roadster of at Richard Thorne’s in Reading today for some warranty work. As I was in the area I went on down to Aero Leather/ Moto-Lita at Thruxton to check out their leather jackets. Of course, I ended up ordering something  The first jacket I looked at was the light weight Irvin Flight Jacket. Wow - if this is light weight what must the regular weight be like. It’s a great jacket but just to heavy and cumbersome for use in the small Morgan cockpit. I would still love to get one one day - the quality was superb and it’s a lovely thing, but just not all that practical in a small cabined car like the Morgan. But I fell in love with the Monza jacket. As Peter (Gambalunga) points out this is far more practical for driving - very warm with something of the look of the flight jacket but less cumbersome and allowing greater movement. Because I need the longer sleeves and body they did not have one in stock so I’ve ordered and it should be here in about 5 weeks. The Monza looks like a great jacket for open top driving.

I purchased the below jacket.Very light and lots of comfort. Fitted very well in the Aero8 seats of Tango. Many pockets and no sharp edges that can damage the car interior. How did you like the speed humps?  I am so tempted to order one for myself. I do find the Lightweight Irvin very nice but it is a little bulky. (or is that me?) I am very taken by the jacket that Rudolf has recommended. Very reasonably priced too. It would be nice for Autumn or Spring when it is not too cold.

Fortunately I was not in the Mog but a little Fiat 500 which Richard Thorne lent me as a courtesy car (great little car). I found the lightweight Irvin far more bulky than I had anticipated - if I was on a trek to the North Pole then I’d take one. I can see how wearing one would restrict your movement in a Morgan. I am going to get one - maybe next year. Despite its bulk, its a great thing to have in your wardrobe - a true British classic.

The Monza jacket which we bought for Alis and that I am a bit tempted by is this one.  Click on image to open link. Trouble is that I really can't justify two "woolly" jackets. When I saw the one in Rudolf's link, http://www.donkervoort.com/shop/donkervoort-touring-leather-jacket-gents/, I was quite taken by it. It would be a great jacket for those times when the air is not cold enough for the flying jacket. My fashion adviser thinks it is too shiny and I do have a suede bomber style jacket that I am using in those circumstances. I'll have to think about it.

Have always been a fan of the 'Schott Perfecto', the original motorcycle jacket. Have several, some modified with warmer insulation. Even have an older one, 3/4 length, belted, referred to as a 'Trucker jacket'. For the 'Mosquito' bought the 'Cockpit' B3 shearling jackets for us. Also the shearling aviator caps and silk scarves. A zipper is a plus ...

Of course, now that Charles is no longer involved with Morgan, this Timothy Everest Motoring Jacket may just fade away.

a great company are aero leather clothing. The Vintage horsehide A2 is fantastic in the three wheeler.
