Hi Matty - I had an exhaust shear at about 2500 miles. Same fault but on passenger side. Ledgerwood Morgan kindly sorted it out as a warranty claim - both exhausts were replaced in order to have a matching pair. The newer versions are a heavier gauge material, more suited to the job. Apparently a common fault.

www.mcmastercarr.com has all sorts of vibration mounts including high temp silicone rubber. You can order on line wait a credit card.

Easily the best source for hardware. Top quality

Maybe
I think I now know why the pipe is under stress.
The cylinder on the drivers side sits closer to the driver by perhaps an inch or so.
the down pipe should of course be shortened by the same amount. However when rebuilding the system today I noted that; even with the silencer slipped over the the down pipe as far as possible; the whole silencer and down pipe assembly had to be compressed horizontally with some force to enable the silencer mounts to match up with the support brackets on the body. Flex in the braided section is now extremely limited; defeating the whole purpose of this section.
inspection of the near side indicates that the silencer here does not need to be butted up to the limit in order to fit.
The drivers side assembly is always stressed to some degree even at rest.
it would be interesting to note if silencer failures generally occur on the drivers side on UK models

Rufus - I can't find the actual link for the silicone vibration mounts on the McMaster Carr website...what section are they listed under?

Look up " extreme temperature vibrations dampening sandwich mounts " or part # 4403k84

It's metric thread, don't know if its the correct thread, but numerous sizes are listed.

And yes they will ship worldwide, and friends in Europe and Tanzania buy from them . They are very good on the phone finding parts and setting up accounts.

Good luck

Not sure if this helps at all, but the thread on my replacement rubbers for the rectifier mount is M8. Barely, but it works.
Good luck!

These arrived and have been installed on my rectifier, total was $32 shipped to me, but they were not metric so I had to get 6 new nuts for another $12. They seem to be very similar to the stock mounts.

Far from home this happened, I was touring in Ireland:

Complete shear of passenger side.

Luckily found someone at weekend to weld as a temporary solution.
