Ladies and Gents, I have just recently joined and posted 'hello' on the new members section and thanks for all the responses. I am picking up the car today and looking forward to it. I have two questions and would be grateful of any pointers:
1. Any advice on posting pictures directly to the site. I must be doing something incorrectly!
2. The car is a 2009 4/4 with 500 miles on the clock and a lot of factory extras. However, it still has the standard steering wheel and I am keen to replace it. I would be grateful of any pointers re replacement options and the parts I will need apart from the steering wheel unit itself. Boss? Horn unit? Perhaps there is a replacement pack that domes with some steering wheel options?
I will try and put up some more pictures of the new car once I can find a direct way of uploading.
Hi G, Have a look at the Moto Lita web site. They do a boss kit and horn pushes specifically for Morgan. A lot of owners choose the riveted wooden rim. I have chosen the leather covered rim as I prefer not to wear gloves. Also you may want to chose a different diameter, I went for a 14 inch diameter, As against the standard 15 inch. To remove the standard steering wheel, you need to remove two 3mm hex bolts and 1 cross head screw? The steering wheel is held on by a 19mm nut and be careful not to break the horn cable.

Yes the boss kit and horn push are extras. They are worth it in my opinion. I went for a standard steering wheel.
If you prefer the look of the wooden wheels note that they do a walnut steering wheel which has a fatter rim, but no rivets. As you say choices.
When you come to changing over another tip is to leave the main nut on a couple of turns on the steering column so that when you pull it off it comes loose but does not hit you in the face.

If leg room is not an issue I'd give the offset wheel a miss.
Other options for wheels although more expensive, are the ones by Steve Simmonds Simmonds which are beautifully made or the new factory Brooklands wheel....if they have resolved the horn push.
Good tip about leaving the nut on....got caught out years ago with that!

That comment sounds as though it comes from experience?
I have a Moto Lita wheel which I love. It has the look and all the period/ classic ambience etc. One thing I find though is that it feels 'thin' in my hands. Depending what you're used to etc this may not be an issue. If I'd held the wheel before ordering I would not have chosen this - and although it's a very big part of driving the car, hasn't really ruined the experience. If at all possible .. then go grab a few. Maybe at a dealer/ or event. If you're buying a new wheel you might as well have the thing that feels right for you. Mota Lita and many other wonderful brands have great options. I just chose wrongly and am reminded of it each time I drive the car. It's on my list 'to change' but I still love the look of it.
