Much talk of the need to oil the plastic beading between body and wings, using a relatively thin oil.

As many know Aldermog spent most of the first 4 years of its life in the care of the factory. Looking carefully at the car this weekend it is very clear that the seams have not been oiled, but possibly treated with clear Waxoil: there is a very clear waxy deposit. If you run a fingernail along the edge of the plastic strip it is waxy.

So, what to do? I was going to use ACF 50 but now wonder. Anyone else noticed this phenomena?

Quite possibly that is what they have used Peter...
Or maybe Williams did it before selling the car?
I must get out in the garage this weekend...

From previous post I believe the consensus was ACF50, it is what I did and will redo this year.

I used to have a creaky car -- looked everywhere around the bonnets, windscreen doors etc --- used acf50 on the beading and all went silent!!!! I do it one every 6 months now and that seems to keep it sorted!

Had A11OGE for 9 years now (golly ) and have never oiled the seam. But now, following these posts, I will do just that, and use ACF50. Just off to look at Amaz*n.

Peter, for what it's worth, and I don't think many here agree with me, what I do is use an aerosol of waxoil which I spray over the beading (using the straw, not a big area). I let it settle then blow a hairdryer over it gently ... it all melts and runs nicely into everywhere. I do this once a year. If I do use too much a little white spirit on a rag takes any excess off.

My preference is Tectyl 506.

I will be using ACF 50 on my alloy wings and stainless fastenings as it says it has a insulating aspect. It is made by Lear jet and the pressures are greater on a Lear jet than a Morgan and they use similar metals.
Having taken my wings off, there is very little penetration into the beading from heated waxoil from a can that I had been using.
I have cleaned the alloy under the car and it is as good as new. So the underseal Morgan use works well. It is the inter action between stainless fastenings and the alloy panels that have caused the problems on my car.
It was different on my old 4/4's, that was just good old rust.

Nick, I suspect that is how Aldermog has been Waxed....
Now I'm torn between the penitrating powers of ACF 50 and the sublime softness of Waxoil....
And then there is the surreal idea of using a hair dryer on a Morgan....

I used ACF50 for the first time the other day, as specified, before washing the car. A little sure does go a long way.

After over 500 km some of the creaks seem to have come back. I think I will try to do it again but this time let it settle in for a little longer and then just wipe off any excess with a damp cloth. I should think white spirit would take the wax off the paint too and should be followed by a car waxing.
