Me too - that is why I bought my MOG 11 plate for my 2011 4/4

My car had MOG89R as the plate when I purchased it, but as it was a 88 4/4 it did not mean much and everyone kept asking what a MOG was. so I went for this

Must be a very local thing. I've never heard of a Morris Minor being called a Moggie, many other things, usually unprintable, but never a Moggie.

The company never seemed to use MOG registrations. MMC seemed to be their favourite. MMC 11 the first +8 demonstrator being one I remember.

The headmaster of the secondary modern school I went to was a welshman called Morgan. His nickname was Mog, amongst other things which are not repeatable!
I always thought there was some sort of welsh derivation but I have no explanation for this.

How do you define "very local"? I live on the South Coast, I seem to remember DaveW is somewhere in the frozen north!

I've met people all over the UK who use the term Moggie to refer to a Morris Minor. If I was telling someone, who didn't already know, that I drove a "Mog" I'm willing to bet a higher proportion of them would assume a Morris Minor than a Morgan.

OK, I surrender surrender
I must admit I have lived most of my life down-under where anything less than 600 km can be considered local hide. So let us say it is an English thing.

I did search "Mog" on google images. First attempt produced a lot of cats, and the occasional Morgan. I then searched "Mog car"; that eliminated most of the cats and I finished up with hundreds of Morgans (and a lot of strange items), some Unimogs, and yes, there are some Morris Minors but you have to go way way down on the second page.

Put in "Mog car Morris Minor" and you get lots of results but very few actually include the word "Mog". A search for the same in the text search produces a few results including this one:

I remember reading "Mog the Forgetful Cat" to my children when they were young.
