Okay I could be a little bit biased, but I am basing the comment on my experiences on this year and in the past. This year I have had more people commenting on the car than ever before. A little elderly lady, well into her 80's, said she learned to drive on her dad's 4/4, thought it had a Standard engine, 'What engines in this one?' . Previous owners who wished they had kept them. Numerous children, teenagers and 'grown ups' saying they loved the car. The most unusual was while visiting the local supermarket. Hanging around outside was a skinhead with tattoos and mean bull terrier. A certain amount of concern that the car would not be as I left it was alleviated when, on return, he gave me a big wave and shouted 'Great car mate' Perhaps he was guarding it! In France you are greeted with fanfares of horns and everyone waving. I even had someone in a BMW flash his lights, overtake me and wave me down. I thought something must have fallen off. No, he wanted to invite me back for lunch to talk about the car. Unfortunately, we were booked in for lunch. I would have loved to have talked limited slip differentials in French. In the USA and Australia owners talk of the general love for their cars. Owners of some classic cars may get similar, but I cannot think of any current car, including exotics, that has this general affection.

I agree and have found the same response. What I can't work out is why I always get chatted up my ladies in their 80s but never a 25 year old blond with a big smile. Sorry if its not politically correct but thats how it is.

In Tesco car park an elderly gent was standing by my parked Morgan and as I approached said "You know- Morgans are like dolphins." "Do you mean the shape?" I replied. "No - You can`t look at one without smiling!" was his response. Sums it all up really. Also as far as the 25 yr old blondes are concerned I was tod that Morgans don`t snap knicker elastic - the best you can hope for is a slightly loosened liberty bodice! - story of my life.

I've had similar experiences this year, people coming up and saying they love Morgans. I had a chap, also heavily tattooed with a fierce looking dog, who gave the car a big thumbs up when I was at some lights.

I am certain that the classic Morgan has "something" that attracts people of all ages and compels them to approach and look at one. They then adopt a tranquil grin and have an urge to talk.
I think that it is down to the shape and proportion, much in the same way, as has been said above, people find a dolphin compelling and nonthreatening. People of all ages "want" a Morgan as they "want" to swim with dolphins.
Both a Morgan and a dolphin hide power and an ability to behave with surprising speed and, it could be said, aggression.
Quite how Morgan stumbled on this shape we shall never know, but I believe that should they move too far from the classic shape they will find it difficult to maintain their success.

Rumour has it that Morgan were inspired by the Squire in the 30's....a rather fetching car I think.

Great looking car. I love the way that the rear and front wings flow together....it just works.

I've always thought that the only "bad" bit of the Morgan is the flat rear panel: the external spare hides it and makes the car look good. But I dislike with a passion the car without a spare.
BUT if it had the delightful curved bottom of the Squire it would be more than perfect. Today's Morgan has a longer cockpit and the curved radiator cowl, both improve the line. I'd love to see a graphical image of a Roadster with Squire rear. It could be beyond perfection....

I read an article by CM once that claimed Morgan's were 'bird pullers' - he got that one wrong for sure - in my experience it's 'men of a certain age' and young boys, on a recent Mogabout around Dorset I returned to my car at Portland Bill to find an elderly gentleman just, well, just looking at it with that smile, he used to watch Morgan's racing the Land's End to London race when he was a boy living in cornwall he said, we chatted for about an hour about the car. Not far down the road an 'erbert of a school boy shouted out to me from the kerb, 'you got a great car mister', both comments made me very proud - however no snapping of knicker elastic to be heard, shame!
