Hi folks
The heat shield on the upper catalytic converter (single exhaust system) on my 1993 Plus 8 has disintegrated. Apparently these are no longer available (unless anyone knows different).
From what remains it appears to have been made of some sort of fibre material. I am faced with trying to make something up myself to fit on the bracket, or coming up with another solution. I'd be really interested to hear if anyone else has any experience to share on this...

You can still get reflective coated asbestos(?) heat shield. Try Demon Tweeks for starters (then look around for a cheaper source!).

I would suggest making up a stainless steel plate shaped to a curved shield and bolted to a bracket so it is position 1/2" or so from the CAT, I think there is enough room. Before final fit fix the reflective heat shielding to it from one of those already mentioned.

I have used thermal barriers from Zircotec in the past. Very effective and a nice company to deal with.
