I am not sure whether the M3W is homologated as a car or a 3 wheeler in Italy. Italy has a lot of 3 wheelers and the weight is not a problem as it can be classified as a 3 wheeler up to 1000 kg. and covered by specific rules for 3 wheelers. If, as I suspect, it is classified as a 3 wheeler a helmet would be required in Italy. We have a number of Moto Guzzi Ercole 3 wheeler light trucks and Vespa Ape cars in every day use in our area and the drivers must wear helmets if the vehicle is not covered by a cabin or a security cell. Vehicles manufactured after a certain date must have seat belts.

I doubt very much that the low roll bar on the M3W would be classified as an adequate "security cell" in the case of a roll over and I imagine that this is the reason for one of the modifications (increased height of the roll bar) required for Australian homologation.

PS. Mind you the 4 wheeler offers no roll over protection. For this reason I always try to avoid a roll over smile
