Just been looking at some reviews of the Ford 3cyl Ecoboost, Gamba, and had similar thoughts of this powering a Mog. I reckon you'd get some pretty good mpg figures along with reasonable performance. Gerry. Jokes aside I think this engine would offer the possibility tomake an interesting new entrypoint car that may attract some younger buyers.

The 2L Ecoboost motot in the Evoque was impressive, smooth, flexible and more power than the V6 Roadster... 240bhp.
So putting the 1L Ecoboost in the our proposed 3/3 would be great. I'd guess 0-60 in about 6.5 seconds and 60mpg. As Jays sad, "what's not to like?"
The only issue with all these turbos is where to put the intercooler. The Evoque air/air radiator was larger than the coolant radiator. But the 3/3 would have a nice large flat rad, so probably OK.

What about the Fiat Twin engine as used in the little 500, Panda etc.?
Quite characterful, and with the turbo great mid range grunt.
Probably could drop the compensator too...

One could indeed use the Triumph Big 3 motor, plus their rear drive: it doesn't self destruct!
BUT do we want that sort of power and torque? I much prefer the idea of the Fiat Twin Air motor, it is as Wiscos mentions, full of personality!

There's plenty of scope for more power from the current engine which really suits the car IMHO . It's been detuned , presumably to save over stressing other components and maybe the drivers too !

The Moto Guzzi California 1400 Custom is powered by a 90 degree, air-cooled v-twin producing 96 horsepower and 87 lb-ft of torque, mated to 6 speed transmission which connects to the rear wheel via shaft drive. A ride-by-wire throttle enables three riding modes, and power is managed by traction control (which can be switched off).
I bet if they had an order for 5 or 600 a year they could build a 5 speed box with reverse too.

Guzzis seem to have done well in JZR's and Triking
2022 Plus Four, 2023 Super Three, Range Rover Vogue SDV8 and Triking T3.

The new 1400 Guzzi Cali engine would be a good choice and with the bike based transmission would make a much lighter car. The Moto Guzzi is a lovely engine. The Triking has a very compact reverse box after the sequential bike box and it seems to work well. The JZR installation was not so clever and sorted as Triking but the kit price was much less. That said the engine and gearbox side of things are not the parts causing too many problems and the S&S engine suits the M3W well.
