Mind you, the roof stays ON at 3/4/5 am - especially after being stopped by cop last spring at that hour !!

Henrietta probably wont hold her purchase price (!), but I reckon that the equivalent depreciation cost will be about £5 per day/use over a ten year period : and would I pay a fiver to hire a Morgan every day? You betcha!!

It would appear the majority feel that the morgan is for using any time and any weather.
I am a driver who likes, no make that loves to drive his Morgan.
By doing this I clock up miles.
Whenever a dealer sees my 05 car there is a sharp intake of breath at the fact that it is, in their words, a high mileage car (what a joke) 46000 miles.
Every car I see advertised for sale has a mileage that says to me most Morgan owners dont actually use their cars.
Recent examples in the Miscelleny being 1996 with 5000 miles, 2010 with 800 miles.
So does that make Talk moggers a rare breed amongst the Morgan owning fraternity?

I would say that I drive the Morgan in fair weather. If it is raining I don't take it out.
However, if I get caught in the rain, so be it.
I want to be driving it roof down, so if I can I will detour to miss the rain.

Whilst I understand and also enjoy driving with roof off, surely it also fun to drive in the rain with 3 wipers trying clear the screen, with heater and fan on. After it it cost quite a bit of dosh so why not enjoy it. I do draw the line at using Rosie when the salt is out, but do wonder what she would be like on snow. cheers

So the majority is in favor of keeping going!

I've just had winter tyres put on the BMW and looking at them I do wonder if they might be a good "all year round" option for the relatively low speed Morgan in the UK.

Winter tyres work best below 7C but don't wear any faster than normal until the road temp us above 20C. How many days a year is that?

The compound on winter tyres gives better control & braking below c 8 c but above they perform worse especially on braking.

Who knows? According to Honest John in yesterday's Telegraph - in response to a reader's statement that Pirelli advised that their winter tyres were good even for high summer in Italy - he said "Winter tyres used to have softer compounds with more rubber and could overheat in high temperatures. The latest technology seems to have solved that problem."

I would be sceptical to that claim considering the performance of pirelli tyres in formula 1.
