Those expletives deleted did my mother in law for 80 quid.
I get the regularly and pretend to be old,, I drop the connection regularly but they call back , I tell them I have pears not apples not windows but they go on. After c 30 mins I tell them to enjoy sex and travel.
Very enjoyable if I have the time.

The best I have come up with is that I have caller id, and have an answer phone.
If the number is international or withheld number, I do not answer and let it go through to the answer phone.
The problem is that some of the PPI chasers are using 0800 numbers. I have the same, but some now use "ghost" UK phone numbers. I have two strategies, depending on my willingness to play. The first is to put the phone next to the radio. The other is to tell the person that the person they ant to speak to has just been killed in a car accident and I'm his brother.... But as they never call mobiles I'm tempted to kill the land line, once we get 3G I'll probably do so.

Last time this happened i told them to talk to the owner and then passed the phone over to me 4 year old son. Think it went 10 or 15 minutes before they gave up. Hysterical

I read some of these and thought its not only me . The phone has just rang again this time it was an Asian man " I am calling you on behalf of ? befor he got his words out I started with the F/*ff you ! caught him by surprise . He was not quick enough and was taken back by the words so I gave him some more the b*st*rd put the phone down on me and I was just getting into my flow . Spoil sport.

Whilst it won't completely do the job, there's a very smart little app available for iPhones and android called BT SmartTalk which enables you to use your mobile through your wifi connection. VOIP in other words. The recipient sees your mobile number when you call and the sound quality seems far better than Skype - crystal clear in my case. Depending on your BT package, calls are free too. I use it a lot as I have no mobile coverage at home. However callers cannot route through the service, so it's one way only unfortunately. You need to be at home to set it up as a code is phoned through to your home number - and a text sent to your mobile too, all for security. The huge asset to the service is that when you're abroad you pay UK land line rates from your mobile. Thought I'd mention it in case it was of use to anyone.
