Aeromax is off the road over the winter, and I'm making a list of jobs to do in advance of getting back on the road in Spring.
One thing that seems very necessary is a new set of boots. The current tyres are 2008 fittment, so getting on for 7 years old now, so probably worth changing on that basis alone.
Any current recommendations for a S4 or Aeromax - given I'm looking at summer usage primarily.

I have a S3 and had new boots fitted when I bought the car, they are Avon ZZ3 ....
Having looked at a few reports I thought that they would be noisy, however I can't say that they are ... I find them pretty good in both the wet and the dry and feel quite safe in cornering and acceleration together. Never had Avon before, so quite pleased with these.
Cheers ........... Pete

Have a word with Tim at New Elms, lots of experience racing Morgans and tyre choice, i think he may recommend a Avon RR 1, but can't remember for sure

Got Avons on it already. They are ok, but don't seem quite as grippy as my P Zero Rossos were on my s4.
Wondering if Yoko's are worth a punt, or some Dunlop Sportmax's if its not going to be worrying about wet / cold...

I can vouch for the Yokohama AD-08 if you want to go slightly less extreme than the AO48's Or a cheeky left field option that's just become 'E' marked: Federal FZ-201 probably medium compound http://www.federaltire.com/download/specFZ201.pdf

I had Dunlop Sportmax's on a Golf GTD and found them noisy. I'm quite a fan of Continentals, they tend to be quiet and very good in wet and dry conditions, but not so good on mileage. For me, mileage wouldn't be a problem on the Mog, they'll probably time out anyway. Other than that, I'd follow Cereal's advice for the Yoko's.
Philip.

Using Vredesteins and found then good all rounder however am also looking at the replacement soon and will be looking for fair weather trick rubber for the Soft top as it will only come out in the dry.
On that point. I sent the S2 back to the factory for some work recently and they have replaced a few parts around the seals. It is now water-tight at rest (overnight outside) as well as on the motorway. Fantastic.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

I always thought the Toyos were the dogs whatits for the Aero and that the Pirellis were nicknamed 'ditch finders' ? I watch this post with interest as I need to change mine (pirellis) in the Spring. I have Yokos on the plus 8, have been fantastic but have gone hard at 5 years old and need care in the cold / wet.

For regular road use the Toyo T1R is a leading tyre and most proven on the Aero as an after market swap.
The Toyo R1R was released about 18-24 months ago as a slightly more track oriented tyre - but not 1B listed (unlike the Yoko A048 or Toyo R888) so could take over this top spot?
The Yoko AD08 is also a recent addition to compete with the interim nature Toyo R1R. It is a great tyre and is used by the factory now on high performance models.
The Federal tyre suggestion was chucked in as MrTony is always interested in the left field option. The FZ-201 is essentially a cut slick which 'just' meets the E mark requirements for road legality an again it's a new addition to the market.
Depends on how quickly you want to go round bends..... Most cars are well 'over-tyre'd' in comparison I the driving style of the owner...
All of the above would be more than enough.
Hardened tyres 5 years old are probably worth changing on pure safety grounds - I once watched a +8 at the sprint taster day try to take part on old P6000's
He certainly perfected the technique of 'spin' and 'understeer' - it looked pretty scary tbh - very unpredictable - and that was in the dry!!
