I'm in the process of rebuilding/cleaning the braking system of my 1960 as I wait for the folks over in Malvern to turn out a new interior for me. For the past week I've been fiddling with the front calipers. Had them sandblasted and cleaned them out with plenty of brake cleaner, I also went over the piston seal recess in the caliper with a wire wheel on my dremel. Put new seals in and for the life of me I can't get the pistons back into the calipers. I've lubed the seals and the pistons with brake fluid. I've frozen the pistons, and I've tried using a C-clamp and an old pad to push the pistons back in but they won't go any further than the new rubber seals. I don't know where to turn next, and on other calipers I've serviced I havn't had to push this hard to get those suckers in! Calipers are looking pretty swanky though!

I ordered the Caliper Kit for a 59-66, Morgan Spares does list a different part for the 66-68, if they had supplied this one on accident would the piston seals be any different (read: larger).

Nevermind, just had to play around with centering them some more in the bores - then went in by hand.

Glad you got it fixed. Looking at the time stamp on your posts, most of us were tucked up in bed!

Glad you got it fixed. Looking at the time stamp on your posts, most of us were tucked up in bed! I was up till about 1a working on the car so I think just about everyone (other than Pacific islanders) were.
