bit sad i know, but the top gear anthems cd is good for driving songs.
if you want sumthin a bit more laid bak go for a little newton faulkner / jamie cullum / micheal buble..
or..sumthin more upbeat..hm..how bout aerosmith, beatles, now 69 has sum gd cds, and there's a new ministry of sound garage cd out..
maybe even sum feeder, red hot chilli peppers, gnarls barkley..

you'll hav to let us know how the trip goes (especially if the music is a great hit! lol)

Some of the cd's doing rotation in the car at the moment - eclectic lot. PLus various detroit techno albums. Most of these are sitting on the desk as the Bismark is in for a service.

1. Best of Depeche Mode
2. Killers (sams town)
3. Chemical Brothers (push the button)
4. Purple Rainbows (Best of Deep Purple)
5. Pendulum (hold your colour) - and waiting on new release though not driving morgan listening to this as don't want to die...
6. Best of Nina Simone
7. AC/DC - Back in Black / Highway to Hell
8. Fisherspooner (#1)
9. Future Sound of London - Accellerator (night driving)
10. Led Zeppelin (III)
11. Leftfield - Leftism
12. Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense
13. Underworld (various)
14. violent femmes (add it up)
15. Miles Davis (bitches brew)
16. Beethoven (9th)
17. Tom Jones (greatest Hits)
18. Bond themes (sometimes with the roof down....)
19. Stereophonics (performance and cocktails)
20. Madonna (confessions)

Plus other stuff, stones, parliament, kasabian, daft punk etc etc etc...

Some great choices Rich, Kin and Young One...

I'd also add: -

M83 - 'Before the Dawn Heals Us' (esp Teen Angst)
Bloc Party - 'Weekend in the City' (esp The Prayer, Flux and Hunting for Witches'
Inxs - 'Kick' (pure classic)
Paul Van Dyk - 'In Between'
Ray LaMontagne - 'Till the Sun Turns Black' (Young-one, if you like Newton Faulkner, etc, check this guy out!)
Johnny Cash - 'Ring of Fire: The Legend of Johnny Cash'
The Clash - 'London Calling' (probably one of the best albums ever)
Angels & Airwaves - either album (ex Blink 182 - perfect upbeat driving music)

...I'll stop there wink

I had a massive 'Bela Lugosi's Dead' poster on my 'teenage' bedroom wall (about 6' by 3.5') - Bauhaus, Tones on Tail, Love and Rockets... all good! thumbs

The Cars - Heatbeat City and the song 'Drive'... teen-crush music! party

Gary Numan - 'White Noise' live album - had it one tape (among a lot of his other stuff), brilliant post punk new wave!

Massic Attack - Unfinished Sympathy - among the best songs of the last 20-years.

Duran Duran - thumbs ... enough said smile

Thanks Young One - I like my classics smile have elgar, debussy some mozart, and a truckload of bach in the car. Bach is my favourite. Though it does make me drive fast...

Ray La Montagne - very good.
Though if you like the whole singer songwriter thing, I'd say that Nick Drake and John Martyn do it better than anyone..

Way too blue (drake) and solid air (coincidentally a song about drake by martyn being in the title track of Martyns most famous album....

Not really driving music though - but too quiet.

I have banned myself from listening to the really fast stuff when driving the mog these days. Used to be fun to have Mettalica etc belting out, but it does seriously affect my driving. So no more.

Now it's andy williams and 70's lounge music all the way. The heavy stuff sounds better coming out of the BMW's hoking great stereo anyway.
