I have a problem with on my 1800 Zetec 4/4 (2001). When I accelerate the revs stay up momentarily. This happens when hot and when cold. Is there a setting I can change to stop this.
Also, do any of the dealers run service training sessions. I'm sure I've seen adverts somewhere but I'm unable to find anything on the internet.
Just in case Minikeefy doesn't sport this, here's his response to someone who asked about this before:
Have a look at my website for the LeMans62 Register I have posted relevant information on this problem that should help (under Rev Hanging)
Basically you should start with resetting the ECU as described in the documents and if the garage is used to Fords this should be easy. It is not the same ECU as Ford but a specialised Morgan version (need I say more!)
I now reset it at the annual service and has seemed to have solved the annoying problem.
Good luck.

Hi Phil, Brands Hatch Morgan do maintenance training courses, which have had good reviews on this forum. Drop them an email to find out when the next one is. Gerry.

I have the same 'problem' with my 4/4 -99 Zetec silver top engine. Is there a similar solution available for my ECU?
I had the same problem on my 2001 4/4 black top zetec. The only fix that worked for me was to install a restrictor plate behind the idle speed control valve. The first I bought from an Austrian Morgan dealer. Now I\ve started to manufacture them myself from beer cans.
In the end I chiseled out the internals of the idle speed control valve, before installing a new beer can restrictor plate.
I made the holes small enough to achieve an idle of 900.
When the engine is cold in cold weather it runs rough, but when warm, very nice idle.
Now I can engine brake downhill, and accelerate as hard as I like without any hanging rev.
Thanks for info and picture Geir Does it matter which way the plate goes? - the holes are of different sizes... and, what sizes did you end up with?
Just a thought : it 'feels' like the cause of the trouble is that the mixture is too lean - too much air. Could raising the fuel pressure help perhaps...
