No, really... Is somebody relying on those fancy gauges behind the steering wheel?
I thought they were just nice decorative things to make nicer the aluminium dash.
Mine are saying:
- Some gas in it (maybe)
- Floor pedal when possible
- Engine running or not
- Engine cold/hot Decorative rather than functional...

The only way to determine what's in the tank is a calibrated dipstick.........................
When I removed the tank on my MGB, I ran it to Empty, then confidently removed the drain plug. What came out must have been close to a gallon, and full of brown sludge and fragments of rust.

Hi Dave A calibrated dipstick? Primitive and fool proof!  And certainly more accurate than the fuel gauge! BTW, can you still buy Redex fuel additive from motor accessory shops? It might just be the solution to your sludge problems.

The MGB isn't a problem Max - that was 1990!!!!!

I have the waterless coolant in my Vignale. I figured on the switch for when stuck in traffic as old cars don't seem to like being stationary.
I looked at the evans stuff but went for another brand that is a quarter of the price but seems the same stuff. Anyway, it does seem to do what it says on the tin.

This sounds good Chris, I may put some of this in the 4 when I (If I get the time)replace the motor, as it will be perfectly free of water.
In the run yesterday along the beach, it sat high, but not overheating and even the blast down the freeway home did not drop it that much.
Who is the Perth dealer for this?

I got mine from Paul Hinton (weeman@weemotorsport.com.au) who will deliver it to your door.  I had Paul deliver mine to Autodelta where my car was in for some work. This is a 2-pack application: a flushing/prep liquid and the coolant itself. Bear in mind that water is a contaminant, the prep will remove all traces of water and any glycol residual. And once the system has been filled with the waterless coolant, it can be safely left for years. Ethylene glycol, on the other hand, has to be renewed every 3 years; so in the long run, the waterless variety would actually work out less expensive, if you see what I mean.
