Car was back at the factory for a few weeks, on two occasions. The noise in the video is the death rattle on the last occasion which was due to the centre nut undoing itself. Engine out job.
First time the noise (much less) started at 500 miles and got progressivly worse over the next 1000 miles.
"Touch wood" - holding together this time.......

It is horrible! Sounds worse that a lose blade on my lawnmower.... Just like a dry clutch on a Ducati Loose blade on a lawnmower. Had one narrowly miss hitting me. Went on to embed itself in the wooden gable of a house 25 metres away!

In my opinion the rack was fitted by the dealer too high on the hoops from new causing the sucker to let go with no load on the rack and bounce up and down on the boot lid as you drove along. MMC adjusted the fit and cured some spanner rash they had inflicted on the hoops whilst the car was in for its compensator.
