Well 1st day of 2014 exiting a roundabout, having just told my passenger that the 4/4 is a death trap in the wet. Yep you guessed it. About 20-30 mph back steps out full opposite lock but the result crash barrier near side fair & square. Both wings, both headlights & some buckling further back. Nobody hurt as hit the barrier at about 10 mph. Car still drives straight so hoping no chassis damage but reason for post is: Be D'm careful in the wet Bob:(

Sorry to hear that Bob. Never pleasant when they let go suddenly. I had a moment last time out in the Roadster on a wet road at fairly low speed which I put down to diesel spillage, but got away with it. Good luck with the repairs.

Harsh to say at this moment but its just the mog thats damaged and your pride not the contents in the mog . You will recover from that a lot more easy than you think.

Is there a "fatal flaw" with Morgan's and wet roads?
I think we deserve to know if there is.
Cheers

I honestly don't think so, David. Any rear-drive car, especially when equipped with lots of power and a locking LSD, can be a bit of a handful in the wet, but usually 4/4s are pretty docile in this regard, breaking away in a very controlled manner. I have no idea what caused IcePack's misfortune, for which he has my sympathy and commiseration, but my first thought was that the tyres were maybe a bit aged, or low in tread or at too high a pressure?

Are you still on the OE continental tyres ? I have my doubts about them in the wet, both in corners and braking.

No flaw - just a very light rear wheel drive car with none of the electronic stability kit we have all become used to and which requires a more measured style of driving in the wet. My motto is not to apply lots of power until going in a straight line when the roads are wet.

Commiserations Bob, I hope you get it sorted and good to know no one hurt. I had a bit of a wobble at the weekend on unsalted roads near Bruntingthorpe, just put on a touch too much gas coming out of a corner. It reminded me of when I used to go looking for slippy roads in my Spitfire. I drove even slower after that and later pulled into let a modern front wheel drive hatchback go past.

Maybe unrelated to this incident, but someone said to me "Slow into corners, and quick out - once you have straightened up"
So much to remember!
Cheers
