The brake rollers were a nightmare and only tried by the most determined tester.

The M3W will need a 3 wheeler MOT station!

As said these are getting fewer and fewer - there is only one to my knowledge in S.Warks!

And I think u will need a cat as well!!

Having said that the few 3W MOTers are v well versed in their testing. This has been my experience anyway! cheers

I'll repeat myself

In the UK, because of the weight, you need a class 4 (car) MOT. But because a tray or similar is needed to support the back wheel on the ramps, the likelihood is only testing stations that do both class 3 (lightweight three wheeler) and class 4 MOTs will be able to test a five speed three wheeler.

Brake rollers only work on a pair of wheels, so although the fronts are testable this way, the back isn't. However, the brake can be checked to see if it basically works when the car is on the ramps, and a Tapley gauge and road test will satisfy the rest.

I assume the on-line records with the DVLA are correctly set up, but I think unless you are too far away, arranging the test through the dealer would be the best start.

Added - a working cat is needed in the UK for a class 4 MOT.

In my humble opinion, this has turned out to be a successful modification. Just the right amount of a additional noise and horses. I wish I had a before and after dyno test to see the real numbers, but I will say there is no loss of torque or power anywhere, I can feel, in the power band. The sound could be a little bit louder still, but there is a definite improvement in that department as well.
Bottom line, if you don't need a smog test, go run and tear those things out!

huzzah! this is so exciting as i've been wanting more meat to the exhaust not but really not wanting to reinvent the wheel and get a custom exhaust made. any chance you could do a short video of the trike with the engine on and maybe a rev or two?

PM me if you need a place to host the video and i'll get it posted for you

did you have to do any welding after it was done or can you just reclamp the exhaust back on?

From there, it is a simple, but slightly tedious job of fishing the honey comb plug out. A few more minutes of scraping the inside wall free of left over bits, and bobs your uncle.

I'm at work today, so I'll have to report back tomorrow how it sounds and feels back on the car. I'm hoping for a gain of a more horses and at least a few decibels. Fingers crossed
